1. INTRODUCTION.
This method statement is given as a general guidance for
conducting the breaking of the pile head located in town square
residential building on plot C35, However, the execution
variations may be adopted to suit unforeseen conditions in
accordance with main contractor /consultant direction, the
breaking of piles involve crushing the pile using of the hydraulic
pile cruncher and jack hummer.
2. SCOPE OF WORK.
The scope of work consists of pile breaking of 800 mm /600 mm
diameter by using of pile cruncher and jack hummer. The pile
breaking will be carried out by DFC till cut-off-level as per
approved piling drawings, the pile chipping and treatment not
including of DFC scope of work which will be carried out by main
contractor.
3. METHOD OF STATEMENT.
The sequence of operations to be as follows:
- The execution of pile breaking will be carried out according
to the excavation work.
- Identify the pile to be break off.
- Insure that adequate barriers and warning signs are provided
and keep un authorized personnel away around the work
area.(risk assessment attached)
- A qualified surveyor will check for marking around the pile
cut-off level and will be confirmed by main contractor prior
commence the breaking of the pile, the cutting shall be done
with the help of small grinder at the previously marked
around the circumference of piles, by this system it will

control the over breaking of the piles below the cut- off level
during the pile breaking.
- Breaking of the piles shall be carried out by hydraulic pile
cruncher which will cut the pile 300mm above pile cut of
level.
- The remaining 300 mm above the cut-off level will be
crushing by air jack hummer to insure non- damage of pile
below cut-off level.
- Pile chipped and treatment is the main contractor
responsibility.
- Pile debris removed will be carried out by main contractor.
- The same procedure will be followed for next pile.
4. EXECUTION PROGRAMME.
- Works will be executed in coordination with main contractor
and as per approved program of work.
- The access of the main contractor to proceed with their
activity will be given once completed of 100 piles at least.
