Interview:
1. Can you tell us about your craft?
 I am doing this even no one orders a craft from me. But if they want to order, I’ll make one for them. But the “Guta”
was sold at the amount of 300.00. I learned this at our subject in art when I was young.

2. At what age you learn to make that craft and how long you are practicing this craft?
 I started this craft at age of 16, while I am doing this craft, I am also studying.

3. Where did you learned this craft?

 I learned this at our school then I developed it until I got married till now.

4. How this artwork helps you and your family? Is it a source of your living or just serve as your recreation?
 It was just part of my recreation but when I have sold some of my crafts, I use it to buy the things needed at home. That’s
when it can help us. But it was just a past time for me. I didn’t use it as a source of living.

5. How often you practice or make this product or artwork?

 If someone wants to order, that’s the time that I will make what they wanted. If no one orders, I just display my crafts at
home as decoration.

6. Except you, who among the family members is a master or know how to make this kind of artwork?
 None of my family members able to do this crafts aside from me.

7. Why you are still continuing in making that artwork?

 Even today I am continuing doing this because it was my hobby even no one orders. It was hard to if you don’t know
how to make it but if you mastered it, it was just easy to do.i created the design through my mind that’s when I created a
design or style. At previous month, I sold a case for the ripple at the amount of 200.00. In smoothening my crafts, I use
sand paper to make its texture smooth.

8. Did you share it or teach it this artwork to your children? Why and why not?
 I used to share this to my children but they can’t focus on practicing it because they are still studying and it requires more
attention. Before you started, you have to focus because if you stop, your focus will be distracted. I use to teach them
because I can’t predict the time especially when I die. There’s a member of my family who is able to practice crafting
like me. In other ways they can use this.

9. Are you willing to share this to other people? Why?

 Yes, if they wanted to learn, I am ready to teach them. Through using my artwork as a sample, they can learn. Bamboo
can be also used in making goggles but in the other crafts, wood is the only thing to use. Goggles are used when you go
fish hunting.

10. Is there other locals here practicing the same craft with you? Is yes, can you name him/her?

ETECH 2NDQTR PT3

 Yes, he is my close friend, “Pare Eming Deocampo”. He created bolo, “Ispading” and “Guna”. He is a panday. Pato, a
son of Nono Abian same as Pareng Eming. I only know three pandays including Carrido
