Plan Vs Actual in MS Project

Introduction
• To begin with the process, few terminologies should be understand
• EV = Earn Value
• BCWS = The BCWS (budgeted cost of work scheduled) fields contain
the cumulative time phased baseline costs up to the status date or
today's date
• Baseline Cost/BAC = Budget at completion/Total planned cost for a
task, a resource for all assigned tasks
1. Create Activity (Task)
• Create project schedule: E.g. Seating Installation
2. Create Resource_1
• Create resource in Resource Sheet:
2. Create Resource_2
• Masukkan resource yang diperlukan
2. Create Resource_3
• Assign rate per resource

Note: Rate IS MANDATORY TO BE ASSIGN FOR Plan (BCWS) calculation


3. Assign resource
• Masukkan resource pada setiap task beserta dengan Jam bekerja
yang diperlukan.

Secara amnya project schedule ini telah lengkap dan sekiranya project team telah
bersetuju dengan sequence and jam bekerja (Budget), Then go to next process>>
4. Create a Baseline
• Baseline perlu diujudkan untuk membolehkan pengiraan Earn Value
or analysis on the Plan Vs Actual.. (Follow the 3 step)

4. Earn Value Calculation_1
• Now the project schedule is ready for the EV calculation
• Begin with added column % work Complete, Baseline cost and BCWS
• Baseline cost should be automatically calculated base on the Rate assign time Work (Hrs)
• E.g Marking onside (Total hour = 8 hrs x rate (RM60) = RM 480

• Current Plan or BCWS (Budget cost work Schedule)
• To update the Plan, Status date need to update as follow:

• BCWS change as of status date

• How to get the Plan %tage ?
• Plan(%) can be calculate as follow:
• Plan(%) = BCWS per Baseline Cost
• In MS Project, we need to do simple programing
• 1st step add Column “Number 1”
