1) INTRODUCTION
This report covers the structural & loading notes for Duct bank
2) DESIGN CRITERIA
Structural design and analysis, Properties and testing of materials shall comply with the
latest available edition of following codes and standards:
Soil Bearing capacity assumed as 150kn/m2 = 72000 kn/m2/m soil sub reaction
Duct banks are supported on soil ( like continuous Footings - Beam on Elastic springs)
And taking load of surcharge, Live loads of light vehicle traffic loads distributed over
And Checked for beam design & deflections ( should be less than 13.3/250 = 0.05 > 0.02)
Dead loads
Assuming 0.60mts earth fill & the truck loads are dispersed by 45 degrees
( angle of repose )
H =600mm a = 250mm b= 510mm
4.3m 4.3/9 m
The live load on the duct should Calculated from the moving load

4) Conclusion
a) The reactions are less than bearing capacity ( 108 kn < 150Kn)
