JINNAH’S 14 POINTS

Why were Jinnah’s Fourteen Points Presented?

Conflicts were arising in the subcontinent as the hatred between the Muslims and Hindus
became more severe. At this time a constitution was forming and Nehru, the leader of
Congress laid out his set of rules for India. The Nehru report was submitted at 28 August
1928 and it’s demands were the formation of a federation in which only the Princely states
and the British would be included and it would have the dominion status of India, states with
majority Muslims will have a joint election with a state which has majority Hindus which will
cause the Muslims to lose every election and the provinces would have the power to rule their
areas, the power will only rest with the Federation.

Mr.Jinnah, the leader of the Muslim League, made an act to counter the report as he had to
protect the Muslim’s rights and their value in India and released a set of amendments that
would satisfy the Muslims and safeguard their interests.
