    Philippines is known for having our homegrown musicians and

    singers. Music has been part of life of many Filipinos. Original


    Pilipino Music (OPM), is a term used to the songs composed
    and performed by local Filipino artists and it was launched
    after the rise of Manila Sound during the ‘70s. Now, many
    people are saying that our local music scene has fallen, but
    OPM scene is far from dead, it is fully alive and it is rising and
    developing. Legend OPM artists still continue making a legacy
    and a lot of new local artists are giving pride on the Philippine
    music scene. Music festivals and concerts that features our
    own local artists have become more popular and attended by
    many Filipinos. OPM is also not left behind on various music
    streaming apps such as Spotify, Youtube, Itunes and
    Soundcloud. In terms of quality and content, with the
    exploration of different genre, music styles and also the
    relevance and significance of the songs composed by every
    artist, OPM is really on progress and it is very much alive in
    the Philippines. This essay will tackle the reasons why OPM is
    not dead and who are the local artists that you shouldn’t miss.
