LEGALIZING ABORTION FOR RAPED WOMEN IN THE PHILIPPINES
Hello, everyone! Good day to all of you, by the way, my name is (your name) and I am going to
share with you my concern about this issue, the LEGALIZING ABORTION IIN THE
PHILIPPINES FOR RAPED WOMEN. And persuading you also about- why unwanted children
should not be born in this world. You know me, as once became a teenager, wished to not be
born in this world also. And I won’t deny it, I have come to this stage of life called
“DEPRESSION” because of pressure, judgment from other people and especially problems
inside our house. What more! For those unwanted children who will soon become teenagers and
start to ask things, aren’t you aware that neglected children or unsupervised children may
become ill or injured? Physical and emotional development may be delayed. Some neglected
children die of starvation or exposure, based on psychology, you can search it up. Do we want
another child to feel neglected in the future? Can you bear it? NO
According to the Philippine Commission on Women, 4% of women between the ages of 15 and
49 were forced to have their first sexual encounter and 10% were subjected to sexual violence.
Rape cases have reached an alarming level, according to the Center for Women's Resources. The
Women and Children Protection Center of the Philippine National Police (WCPC-PNP)
documented 4,572 cases of rape in 2010, 19 of which were incestuous or perpetrated by a
victim's blood relative. From 4,048 in 2009, there was a 13% increase in reported cases of rape
and incest. According to data from the Philippine National Police, rape has decreased by 11.65%,
from 4,301 in 2015 to 3,800 in 2016. However, the true figures could be much higher.
Moves to legalize abortion in the Philippines became foreseeable partly due to the tragic reality
of women impregnated due to rape. Emotionally, the argument is very strong. It's a different
story if it's the right thing to do. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, around half of all
pregnancies in the Philippines are unintended. Pregnancies caused by rape, on the other hand,
should be distinguished from this. To put it another way, unintended pregnancies do not always
imply that the sexual act was also unintentional and non-consensual in nature.
The Philippines is not the only country in the world that bans abortions. According to the World
Economic Forum, 26 countries still prohibit abortion unless it is absolutely necessary to save a
woman's life, with no explicit legal reason for doing so. Another 37 countries prohibit abortion
unless it is absolutely necessary to save a woman's life. Major economies such as Brazil, Mexico,
Nigeria, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates are among them.
Although our laws do not expressly state it, if doctors who were fully committed to saving a
mother's life caused a fetal abortion as a result of a mishap, it should not be considered a criminal
offense in the Philippines.
It's easy for us who haven’t experienced trauma to say no to abortion because it's against our
religious beliefs. I, too, believe that I, as a woman, should have the right to my own body.
Regardless of whether or not I am a Catholic or a woman, I am a firm believer in the sanctity of
life, regardless of my gender. It is necessary to respect and protect life in all of its forms.
Everyone should have the chance to live their lives to the fullest. Every pregnancy is unique in
terms of emotional content. Some women have been trying for years to get pregnant, while
others have had an accident, or worst raped.
I have now to the end of my presentation. In summary, I spoke about the side of raped women in
terms of abortion.. Their situations, the rates, and any other countries being banned in abortion.
That’s all for today, I hope you like it. Thank you!
