NICOLE A. PELOMIANO
MAEd in Guidance and Counseling

1. What do you need to consider in preparing a Guidance Program? (20 pts)

Guidance Program is the blueprint of all guidance services, without it, counselors will
be left clueless of what to implement in their institution. There will be a chaos in the whole
execution of their services and probably counselors will not be able to do their responsibilities.
So, from planning, crafting, and the actual implementation of the guidance program, counselors
must always be decisive, organized, and creative all the time. In planning process alone,
counselors should have already know what kinds of programs should be present and prioritize
to include in the whole guidance program. Counselors should assess the population to whom
they are going to implement the program itself because by that, they will be able to answer the
problems that their clients experience, and the clients will also be satisfied to the services that
counselors offer to them. In crafting as well, counselors must be able to gauge of what are the
current needs of the population, I believe that it should always be at the top of priorities in the
crafting process of all guidance programs since the reason why counselors are there is to attend
to the demands of their clients’ psychological, personal, and career well being. Preparing a
Guidance Program tests the counselors competencies to be at their best so that a successful
implementation of the program will be achieved in the end. If the counselor will be able to craft
a program that is realistic and feasible, then we can expect a greater output and results which
will also be visible because it manifests to their clients.
Since Guidance program is the backbone of the guidance services, counselors must be
careful to what are things to be included in it and they should carefully plan all the things in the
program so once they encounter problems in the future they will be able to easily adjust and
still adept to what their clients wants to achieve.

2. What is your over-all insight/s in the study of Organization and Administration of Guidance
Services subject based on the following: (30 pts.)
2.1. Knowledge Gained
2.2. Skills Gained
2.3. Attitudes

In this course, I was able to know the essence of the guidance and counseling services in
any institution. Studying the importance and roles of counselors in an educational settings or
even in an industry settings made me realize of how dismissive we have been to what they can
do and offer to their clients. I was able to identify the needs that the counseling industry have to
address in able to solidify their importance in our lives. I believe that if we will be able to
resolve these issues and concerns, it would bring a more positive impacts in the industry and in
the whole community as well. For example, here in the Philippines many companies do not
provide much of a budget to hire for a regular counselor who can attend to many problems that
their employees experience, could it be either about their personal, psychological or even career
health. We have always try to set aside the things that counselors do to all of us, we have
painted them in a very negative way especially in the educational settings, we perceived them
as someone who do nothing but give punishments, a prefect of discipline. But if we try to
consider their essence in our community or even just in the institution we could have an
astonishing environment that could nurture our values and polish our behavior which could
eliminate the negativity in everyone of us.
This time, learning many things about them and actually studying it, I think that drives
me more to be a counselor in the future. Each service and their importance in the whole
guidance program, I was able to create a more conducive environment in all of my classes. I
became less strict and more approachable to all of my students, I was able to become a more
relax teacher because I know that a frustrating environment would bring no good to my students.
In this course, I have acquired so much new methods of approaching people I know and that I
usually socialize with, that sometimes they may be experiencing problems which no one
noticed it and I try to be understanding to them. I have learned that counselors must make sure
that our clients to feel always at ease in the all services we offer but I also apply in my everyday
living. I also obtain a lot of experiences which I can use as tools in my future endeavors. I have
learned that promoting rapport and generating healthy relationships with people I work with
would helps us to communicate more effectively. It can make us collaborate in a positive
approach and in that way we can do many things efficiently.
Moreover, I have become more attentive and organized to everything I do because I
discovered that as counselors it is also our responsibilities to be professionally focused and sort
things out in all the responsibilities assigned to us. We should also be creative in a manner that
whatever we try to plan, it should provide us the opportunities to earn transferable life skills. I
have developed confidence and awareness in a manner that I advocate that everyone should
have talked to a counselor or have a regular one because it can truly help us in all aspects of our
lives. If the counselors and the whole counseling industry would be set to priority in all
communities, we will be having a soothing environment which everyone can enjoy their own
lives and not worry too much.
