Challenges
● Teachers do not have adequate time to
complete beginning of the year
diagnostics and screeners.
● Teachers do not have adequate time to
teach all of the content in today’s
curriculum during a normal school year.
● Semester exams are scheduled after
the district’s Christmas Holidays.
● Students and staff need breaks
scheduled appropriately
A Revised Calendar
● Provides elementary and middle schools with
an accelerated calendar with 5 additional days
for instruction (w/ teachers earning their daily
rate of pay).
● Provides a district-wide virtual day to allow
teachers in September to work on Student
Learning Targets (SLTs), input student data
from beginning of the year assessments, etc.
● Semester exams and the first semester will
occur before the Christmas Holidays.
● Staff returns after Christmas with two
professional development days.
