WRITING ACTIVITY 2: A SENSE OF HUMAN SECURITY

I. Watch the two human videos and answer the following questions:

1. What is human security? (10 points)

Human security is an emerging paradigm for understanding global vulnerabilities.

Additionally human security is a human right. It concentrates on being 'people-centered.
Its major goal is to move towards safeguarding people. In contrast to the security of the
states, it refers to the security of individuals and communities. Human security recognizes
that feeling secure has various aspects, such as free from fear, free from want and
freedom from indignity. It is vital to contribute to people's welfare and to meet the
requirements of everybody while dealing with sources of dangers and freedom from
unworthiness.

2. How can the Human Security Approach help provide solutions to the world’s
problems? (20 points)

This can contribute greatly in a way that this approach provides security measures
to protect the integrity of individuals who are threatened by things like diseases, poverty,
natural disasters, violence, landmines, and human rights abuses. It is important to provide
security to human lives in order to protect them from getting affected by these threats. If
suitable measures are not taken to deal with relevant insecurities, then it may lead to
unimaginable and unfortunate results, not only for the individual but for the rest of the
world. It will have an effect like a adomino chain reaction. The importance of human safety
may be demonstrated by the fact that it goes far beyond a measure against
violence, threat and conflict in the broadest sense. It combines measures that
create a free atmosphere where a person may practice human rights, decent
healthcare, access to higher education, enhanced financial position and many
others. In brief, it offers an individual a chance to accomplish his objectives in
accordance with his potential power. Without human safety, individuals may find it
difficult to attain their goals in an unprotected atmosphere, since it is impossible to
stay in peace and do what they wish to achieve when life is at risk.

II. How secure are you? (20 points)

Go back to the different insecurities and their root causes. Which among them are
you having struggles with? What could be the causes of them? What solutions do you
think you need in order to get past them?

All of us want to live a happy and fulfilling life, but we people aren't all the same.
One of the insecurities most of us experience is poverty. Its manifestations include limited
access to education and other basic services, social discrimination and exclusion, as well
as a lack of participation in decision-making. There are multiple reasons why we are
experiencing all of this, but one thing we can consider, or must consider, to surpass this
insecurity and to have a happy life is to be resilient behind those difficulties in life. Once
we are resilient, we become much stronger and more eager to survive such difficulties in
life. Improving individual lives makes the nation resilient as well.
III. Express your sense of human security or insecurity. Write a
poem or a letter for yourself. You may also choose to write a poem or
letter to the world. (20 points)

FEAR

She's a young lady consumed with fear

She's scared of insults, which is why she doesn't interfere.
But not being able to speak
Make herself pity for being weak.
She knows things, but instead she try
There she sits and speak a lie.
For her it is hard, it is in the level of difficulty
That’s why she wonders how others make it look easy.
But hours passed by,
Days quickly ran by.
She was awakened in reality
She needed to believe in her capacity
And take every opportunity.
Cause no one can help you, its only you
But still at the back of her mind,
She says “I hope in time”.
