Fast Fation

Fash fation is a therm that reffers to inexpensive clothing produced rapidly by mass-market
retailers (usually big companys like inditex or HM) in response to the latest trends. In the other
hand, slow fation is exactly the opossite, the slow production of clothes that usually favors quality
and design over production speed.

Good things about fast fashion:

-It is said that the most important characteristic of slow fation is quality and how designers spend
much more time creating each piece of clothing, but this usually reflects on a disproportionate
increase in the price. While fast fashion trousers problably will cost over 10 euros, slow fashion
trousers might cost even 100. Everybody can afford fast fation, wich basically means that more and
more people have access to clothes that maybe in the past they couldn´t have.

-It has a huge role in today world economy. It employs over 300 million people around the world,
especially in poor countrys, were fast fashion factories are one of the only ways of getting money
from a salary.

-Only fast fashion allows us to go ‘shopping’. Many people love to go throw the different shops in
the town buying the clothes they like the most. We often feel excitement and an adrenaline rush
when discovering new items that we consider buying. It's the same as doing new things, meeting
new people, seeing new places, and learning new ideas. It makes you feel good and joyful. We are
only able to buy in this way thanks to the way of producing and selling of fast fashion.

-There are many style choices. Fast fashion creates new styles every week. Design and production
time have decreased dramatically. Many fashion brands and retailers can sketch, produce, and
distribute new clothes inspired by the latest trends in a very short time.

-Fast fashion is available everywhere. It's very practical for consumers to be able to shop for new
trendy clothes either on the Internet or in street stores. Zara, for example, is one of the most well-
known fast-fashion retail giants. The company produces all types of clothing, shoes, and
accessories. There are a total of 2500 Zara shops distributed in practically 100 countries over the
whole world.

In conclusion, years ago, the world of fashion was primitive, small, slow, and local. Once the large
majority of consumers got accustomed to clothes becoming cheaper, easier, and quicker to make,
they started to love the idea of mass-produced clothing. The fast Fashion industry is now a global
phenomenon. People enjoy buying looks and outfits inspired by runway shows at a fraction of the
price.
Bad things about fast fashion:

-Fast fashion is the mass production of cheap, poor quality, disposable clothing. Over 80 billion
garments are thrown away every year. All this useless clothes usually end up polluting natural areas
like the sea of in huge lanfills. Since practically all fast fashion clothes include some kind of plastic,
all this junk clothes will be there polluting for centuries.

-Not only the clothes but also the production of clothes is extremely polluting. Some examples are
toxic lakes or rivers due to the spills of dyes that contain arsenic or mercurium used for fabric,
microfibres or microplastics used to make clothes (instead of organic ecologycal materials like
cotton) that end up in the sea being eaten by fishes or the emision or the emission of greenhouse
effect gasses by the big fast fashion factories all around the world.

-The main reason of the low prices of fast fation is how cheap are the materials (since they are all
plastic) and how cheap is to produce the clothes. Fast fation companies usually situate theire
factorys in third world countries were the low salaries they offer is the only way that many people
there have to get by, working under extremely bad condisions. This is why we think that fast fation
infringes human rights.

- The consumerist global situation that many companies (specially fast fashion companies) has lead
us to in the last years is affecting the world population, creating compulsive shopping addiction on
many customers.

-Also, when buying slow fashion istead of fast fashion we support local business or small growing
businesses instead of large companies that are corrupting our society.
