Introduction

A. Background of the study 

The study is all about the effect of natural lighting on the ambiance of a resort
multipurpose area for the guests. The researcher chooses this problem because of the observation
in which a part of the area is exposed with natural lighting that also gives effect to the entire
ambiance of the multipurpose area. And as for whether the guest will be exposed to too much
natural lighting that will affect their moods and comfort. Natural lighting can create information
in the surface room which makes a changing pattern of the room brightness that can make it
connect to the world outside. And it recognizes a view when it falls directly on the eye. (P
Tregenzaand J Mardaljevic 66, 2018) People are now spending 90% of their time indoors. it is
now widely accepted that ‘adequate’ daylight illumination inside buildings is essential to sustain
and promote human health and wellbeing (J Mardaljevic 490, 2021)
  The resort is a place where people gather family, friends to spend the day that
creates a cluster of activities, often in attractive locations. The resort’s multipurpose area is
exposed with natural lighting that produces a beautiful ambiance to the interior spaces. Natural
lighting brings ambiance that can create moods and energize space. Nowadays visitors come to
spot a different ambiance of an area. It is considered a natural factor and a natural resource.
Natural light gives a positive impact on guests' that turn affects physical and psychological
comfort. (Brembilla 211, 2020). An ambiance can create a different mood, character, and
atmosphere in a place. 
The concept of effect is to know a certain thing that produces a satisfying effect in a
particular situation and to know what will be the result. The study of effect is important with
natural lighting that refers to the light source from the sun that can produce light and shadow to
make space strong and vibrant (Omary A Kaheneko pg.42, 2021)
 The effect of natural lighting on the ambiance of the resort’s multipurpose area is by
connecting people with nature. Indoor places with beautiful plays of light that can have an
alluring ambiance can also give a lively feeling and relaxation to the occupants. 

B. Statement of the problem

The resort’s multipurpose area is where the event and activities are held. Nowadays
people look for a good ambiance in space. The natural lighting is giving an effect to the
multipurpose area that gives ambiance to guests which have the benefit of productivity and
comfort. These are the following issues.
1. What is the common adjustment of the multipurpose area if it is affected by natural
lighting?
2. Why is important to consider the effect of too much exposure of natural lighting to the
multipurpose area? 
3. How will the guests appreciate the effect of natural lighting on the multipurpose area on
the ambiance?

C. Objective of the study

To discover the effect of natural lighting on the ambiance of a multipurpose area for the owner
and guest. 
1. To recognize the common adjustment of the multipurpose area if it is affected by natural
lighting.
2. To determine the importance of the effect of too much exposure of natural lighting to the
multipurpose area?
3. To examine the guest appreciation of the effect of natural lighting on the multipurpose
area on the ambiance.

D. Significance of the study

These study findings will rebound to the guests' benefit. Considering that natural lighting
has a significant role in interior design. The researcher will conduct this study through a survey. 
E. Scope and delimitation of the study
This study will focus on the guest of the resort’s multipurpose area located at Cauayan
Negros Occidental. The researcher has a time frame of days to conduct this study through a
survey to the 10-15 guests who already attended an event that have ages ranging from 18 and
above. 

F. Definition of terms

Ambiance – the character and atmosphere that it seems to have.

Guest – a person who is invited to visit the home or take part in a function organized by another.

Natural lighting- Natural lighting can create information in the surface room which makes a
