Description of
the situation.

Students with Intellectual disabilities with

ranges of mild and moderate
Name of the
strategy.

Give them more time and

practice than usual, give
them moderate personal
support, and provide them
feedback on learner
performance, e.g.,
compliments, approval,
encouragement, and
affirmation.

Intellectual disabilities
An intellectual disability is a significant
limitation in a student’s cognitive functioning
and daily adaptive behaviors.

Skinner's theory of operant conditioning

It involves shaping behavior through a system of
reinforcement

The Zone of Proximal Development is defined as the

space between what a learner can do without
assistance and what a learner can do with adult
guidance or in collaboration with more capable
peers.

Theories
Behaviorism

It is a theory of learning based on the idea that all behaviors

are acquired through conditioning. Conditioning occurs through
interaction with the environment.
Constructivism
The term refers to the idea that learners construct
knowledge for themselves---each learner individually (and
socially) constructs meaning---as he or she learns.
Resources requiered
- Previous information based on special
educational needs
- Student information about his/her special
needs.
- Simplified material
- Support from Teachers-specialists
- Good attitude: be patient and be kind

How do you think that

strategy would improve
learning?
It's important to use different theories of
learning and strategies, the combination is
better than only using a single one. We learn in
multiple ways and when we find students with
special needs it's required to simplify
activities and give the support according to
their necessity, besides teachers provide
extra instructional time for students who
struggle in general, these are the strategies
we implement every day in class. Teachers
need to pay attention to specific necessities
from the students who have intellectual
disabilities. When the teachers implement
specific strategies to support the students,
they improve their learning.
