more have been instrumental in combating the stress
that prevails. Resilience, hope and compassion are
the need of the hour. My sincere advice to everyone is
to make the best of these peculiar conditions which
require optimism, hope and humanity to be tackled.

her unwavering dedication and passion to this new

„The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.‟

Our school got an opportunity to host an extremely informative and interesting webinar
by one of the most renowned and talented actors, Ms. Dia Mirza. She is not only a
famous personality in Bollywood but is known for her extreme concern towards
environment. She firmly believes that in order to bring a change in our environment we
must first change ourselves. She further guided the students about how one can perform
his or her duty towards nature by taking simple steps at personal level. Her experience
and knowledge which she shared with the students was truly inspiring for all. The
entire MPS fraternity is thankful to Ms. Dia Mirza for taking some time to inspire our
young students. It was an absolute joy having such a champion of environment
conservation and a superbly talented actress in our midst

It is very important to stay positive and


motivated in these tough times. This is the
time to reflect on our weaknesses and
recharge ourselves. A motivational talk
was organised for the staff, students and
parents of the school in order to instil a
sense of positivity and to challenge
ourselves to adapt to these difficult times
and come out as champions. It was indeed
highly refreshing session for one and all.

OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER
MS. MANEKA GANDHI

Smt. Maneka Gandhi was invited as the


speaker on the occasion of World
Endangered Species Day on May15, 2020.
The session was organised with a purpose to
sensitise our youth to be kind towards the
animals. The speaker with her knowledge
that she had gained over the years,
enlightened everyone on how to become the
voice of the voiceless.
ACTING AS A CAREER
An interesting webinar by renowned
actor Mr. Kanwaljit Paintal was hosted
by our school under the aegis of Delhi
Sahodaya School Complex.
The webinar started with an impressive
introduction by Principal Ms. Alka
Kapur. The actor highlighted that a
successful career in acting requires
equal parts talent and practice with a
bit of luck thrown in. He shared his
personal experiences with the audience
and communicated that the main
responsibility of an actor is to enact a
particular situation and character to an
audience using body language, speech, gestures, expressions, and any or all other

An inspirational webinar by Dr. Vivek Bindra,
Best leadership trainer and business coach was
hosted by our school under the aegis of Ed talks
The speaker apprised the audience with the
need to be self sufficient as per today‟s need to
become a Great Indian. Dr. Bindra holds a
Guinness World Record for the largest online
live sessions on Youtube. He spoke about
“Effective Planning and Time Management"
that contain all the ingredients required for
maximizing workplace efficiency and
effectiveness.

MPS hosted a webinar on COVID LIFE - Don't

on 28 April, 2020 with Ms.
Radhika Madan, Bollywood Actress and Social
Activist as the keynote speaker. The speaker
highlighted the importance of staying positive
in life and shared some tips with the viewers as
well. She also advised that being grounded and
humble is extremely important to become
successful in life.

CONQUERING PUBLIC SPEAKING WITH OUR ALUMNUS SORAV NARULA

Speaking in public is not a child‟s play. It


requires excellent communication skills and
confidence. With an aim to help our students
learn some great tips to master the art of public
speaking, MPS hosted an interesting webinar
on 29 April 2020 on 'Conquering Public
Speaking' with our alumnus Sorav Narula as
the speaker. The seminar helped the students
understand how crucial it is to have polished
speaking skill to leave a lasting impact on
others.

WITH DR. HENRY THROOP
An interactive webinar 'Talk To A Scientist' with
Dr. Henry Throop, Program Officer and
Scientist, NASA Headquarters' was organised
on 19 May, 2020.Dr. Throop shared a lot of
information about space and science. He also
gave an insight into the procedures and
practices which are taken into consideration
before the launch of any project. It was a
knowledgeable session for one and all which
helped everyone to understand some unknown,
yet interesting facts related to the space.

AN ENLIGHTENING SESSION ON COVID LIFE – 5R’S OF EDUCATION


Refresh, Relax, Revisit, Resilience, Reflect are
the 5 R’s that help us move forward in this
difficult time. Ms. Alka Kapur, Hon’ble
Principal discussed ways so that we remain
positive all times and reflect upon what we have
and try to improve what we lack in. She
explained that the survival in current times will
happen not of the one who is fittest but of the
one who is quickest, who is quick to adapt to
the changes with a positive attitude. She
inspired the learners and advised not to feel
dejected by the barriers of social distancing
rather stay connected emotionally with each
other and support everyone in whatever way we

May 2020. It was a wonderful session that

Madam Principal presented her
wholesome perspective towards
schooling in 2020. She apprised the
parents on their growing sense of
insecurity about post Covid reopening
of schools. Physical distancing and

also said that the schools will have to
fundamentally transform their
operations to deliver learning
outcomes while minimizing the risk of
COVID 19 transmission.

Madam Principal was one of the elite


panelits in an interesting webinar that
apprised the audience with the skills and
tips to identify the cognitive potential of
students. She also emphasized on the
need to keep their spiritual intelligence
in sync with their Intelligence Quotient.
Modernites learned the technique of 3D printing
and developing exciting games while tinkering
from home. With this knowledge, students learnt
to design wonderful things, program and share
interactive media such as stories, games, and
animation with people from all over the world. It
was an excellent platform to work creatively, work
collaboratively, and reason systematically.

innovators as a part of ATL
Community Day celebrations
on 14th April 2020. An exciting
opportunity was provided to the
students from various schools
and students from NGO Sarthak Prayas to explore
design innovations in 3D printing through an online
live session
with the
resource
person. The module set a unique platform
for the budding innovators to chisel their
creativity to life while they tinker from
home.

SESSION ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE


Technology once learned can be your best friend
forever. In the current times when the world is
moving ahead with so many technological
development it becomes crucial for a school to provide
education according to the changing trends. MPS,
organised a live ATL session for the students of class 9
and 10 on Artificial Intelligence and Python, a general-
purpose and high-level programming language used
for developing desktop GUI applications, websites
and web applications. The session turned out to be
interesting for the students.
APPRECIATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
TALK OF THE TOWN – TOUCH LESS BELL
Sarthak Jain of class 11, designed a door-bell project
to break the chain of deadly corona virus. It is an
automated device with ultrasonic sensors. The
sensor can detect the presence of a person or object
within a distance of 30 to 50 cm and produce the
„beep „sound from the buzzer without touching the
bell. Innovation by this young boy received much of
media attention from news channels like Aaj Tak,
ABP News, The Siasat Daily, Times Now and his
efforts were also acknowledged by Hon'ble HRD
Minister, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank..

Astronomy Classes: Let’s create an
Online ‘SPACE’
PLUTO HAS A HEART
ONLINE ASTRONOMY SESSION

Our students are in love with Astronomy. They


are always so excited to learn more about
universe. To keep their interest intact, an online
astronomy session on 'Pluto Has A Heart' was
organised for different classes of the school
wherein India‟s Aspiring Astronaut,
Aryan Mishra briefed the Modernites on the
subject through an explanatory presentation.
The session left the students in awe of this
mysterious planet. The Resource person
Aspiring Astronaut - Aryan Mishra briefed the
students about the origin of universe, life of star
and other interesting facts about universe.

WORLD ASTRONOMY DAY

Bringing astronomy to the young enthusiasts, MPS organised an online astronomy


session with India's Youngest Astronomer Mr. Aspiring Astronaut Aryan Mishra, as a
part of World Astronomy Day celebrations. He interacted with the students and
enlightened them about the possibility of existence on Mars and other interesting facts
about space life.
Teachnology is integration of technology into
the teaching methodology to make learning
more effective and student friendly. This
platform has not only ensured us
knowledgeable lectures but has also helped us
to conduct a plethora of activities for the
students. Here is a glimpse into the wonderful
and creative world of MPS where every
child is important.

NATURE INSPIRED JEWELLERY

Amid lockdown, Modernites celebrated


Earth Day 2020 with a myriad of energised
eco activities .Pre-Primary and class I
students made beautiful and creative bird
feeders using bird-safe materials. Some
awesome nature-inspired jewellery pieces
were also made by our students of class II
and III to honour Mother Nature on Earth
Day 2020.The tiny tots really enjoyed doing
this activity and also learnt to make new
things while at home.

ECO ART : BEST OUT OF WASTE: It is said that


wastage of resources is wastage of money.
Modernites enjoyed eco art and craft, re-purposing
common household items that would have otherwise
gone into the trash. The work done by these students
speak for itself about their creativity.

activities for the students at home and
encouraged them to involve themselves
into productive activities. The credit for
the successful execution and completion
of online competition goes to Madam
Principal, Ms. Alka Kapur and her
likeminded dedicated team who always
work, day and night for the benefit of
their students.
HUMANITY AT ITS BEST : MODERNITES HELPING FELLOW BEINGS

Tough times like these bring live examples of unity and social solidarity. Our
students and their parents came forward to make home-made face masks using
fabric, tissue, t-shirts and other readily available material at home and distributed
to the needy.
WORLD RED CROSS DAY

On World Red Cross Day,


in an effort to keep the
river of knowledge
flowing amid lockdown,
MPS teachers made easy
to understand, interactive
presentations that were
read by the students. The
students also made
beautiful, eye-catching bookmarks as a creative
exercise and had a lot of fun.

BEST OUT OF WASTE BY TINY TOTS

The students of Pre-Primary realised "Waste Isn't Waste Until We Waste It" as
they were encouraged to reuse newspaper for making koala. Extremely talented
and creative students of various classes participated in drawing, essay, poem and
slogan writing competitions and depicted their beautiful work through paintings
and poems. The students felt elated to get an opportunity to participate in
multiple events during lockdown.

CIRCLE TALK
Circle Talk has been one of the most talked-about events of MPS, where students
showcase their talent and knowledge. Recently, the school conducted an online
session of Circle Talks where in students shared their views on the topic-‘How to
prevent yourself from Corona virus' and 'Post COVID Life: Roles and
Responsibilities of students'.
MOTHER‟S DAY CELEBRATIONS

Despite
lockdown
and other
restrictions
around,
Modernites
celebrated
Mother’s Day
to its fullest
with their moms. Virtual celebrations made the day special. The students of
classes preschool to class III expressed their gratitude for their mother's relentless
role in a child's life during a special one-hour activity. All the learners had a gala
time while trying their hands-on salad decoration, fruit decoration, cooking
without fire.
NATIONAL NURSES DAY
Beautiful cards were made by Modernites to
express their gratitude to the nurses - the real
heroes who are putting their lives on the
frontline to help us stay safe at home.
WORLD ENDANGERED SPECIES DAY
As we strive to build a brighter future, let us not forget that this future cannot
come at the cost of our Planet‟s own well-being. We must balance our own needs
with those of the wildlife and ecosystems that surround us. Modernites sensitized
the community on the need of saving animals and protecting them from getting
extinct.

Even though we might be physically distant, we still remain a tightly knit family
through virtual means by creating unforgettable moments every day. At MPS, we
celebrate the birthdays of our incredibly valuable students online, to make them
realize what they mean to us.

LAURELS HOME

Once again, the Model UN team of MPS


has brought laurels home by
participating and winning in an online
conference: DOMUN2020.Saakhi
Dewan of class X-A won the special
mention award in WHO, a continuous
crisis committee and Madhav Aggarwal
of class XII-A also won a special
mention award owing to his excellent display of diplomatic skills in the
committee. Further, Sumedha Upadhyay of class X-A received a verbal mention
for her outstanding problem-solving ability.
MPSMUN, The maiden MUN edition of the school, was a digital conference held
with all the student members on 7th June 2020 on the Zoom App. Guest speaker
Ms. Lovely Sarkar enlightened all with the motto of MUN and stressing its
significance in combating issues related to world . Also the dance performance by
Modernites made it a day.
Students exhibit their debating skills in two committees i;e UN General Assembly
and UN Human Rights Council.
General Assembly on one hand worked on preparation of working paper and
moderated caucuswhile, UN Human Rights Council prepared a Press Release.
Members of International Press showed their interrogating skills.
The closing ceremony followed on the next day, 8th June 2020. The melodious
song and motivational speech followed by the results made it indeed a successful
event.

Health and hygiene is the topmost priority of the school


during this time. We have installed touchless sanitizing
stations in the school. At the entrance, we have installed
automatic face recognition terminals as well, where,
during the entry, every student and teacher will go
through a touchless temperature check and if anyone is
not wearing a mask, the machine will raise an alarm for
this. Touchless sanitizers and handwash spots will help
us stop the spread of the virus. Foot masks have been
placed to ensure proper physical distancing is being
followed at all times, and we have designated separated
paths for entry and exit as well.
