Chapter 4

Language - a substance for writer

ACTIVATION

▶️In my view, in order to be a good writer you should consider 3 things especially when writing stories.
First, choose a genre that you think would click and would catch the attention of your target readers.
Second, put yourself in the exact same position of each of your characters in order for you to write
without biases also for your readers to understand each of your characters. Lastly write your hearts out
as if you and your readers connects.

TASK 1

Know ▶️In this topic, I have an idea that this tacles about the process of writing using symbols to
create sentences.

Want ▶️I want to learn more regarding in this topic for me to be able to understand better the
process of writing were I can apply it to myself and to others.

Learn ▶️In this topic, I learned a lot about writing and stuff.

TASK 2

It is month of december, christmas is coming. They say that it's the best month of the year but not
for a girl named Pipay. Pipay was a bubbly person and she has a lot of energy. But those energy
are slowly fading as she felts the pressure and streess that her studies had brought. It's already
december, her mind is already at the thought of having a great time and bond with her fam
enjoying the Christmas break but the activities and output are restraining her. She keeps on
spending late at night to finish it but it seems like it's the other way around so one day she stop
worrying and read wattpad.

TASK 3
▶There are ️three things a writer should consider before they start writing is the idea of greatest
interest to the reader. Second, how it will likely “sound” to the reader. Last is where and in what
medium the reader will read it.

Reflection

▶️In this module, I learned on the process of writing, tips on how to improve writing and it's
importance for us especially if you are a future educator.

Writing - language difficulty

ACTIVATION

▶️In writing, one of the strength that I possessed is attention to detail, I am an observer and I do
take note of some subtle changes. Though I am also to changes in writing. One of my weaknesses in
writing is I don't have a strong vocabulary.

TASK 1
▶️Language learning is significant because it provides many benefits including greater academic
achievement, greater cognitive development, and more positive attitudes towards other languages
and cultures. Simply, language learning is necessary for students to effectively function in the
modern global marketplace.

TASK 2

▶️Ideally, as a student, practicing my writing on a daily basis is very significant. In order for me to
improve my writing skills, motivating myself to practice my writing every day is a must. I should
also consider reading more often for me to be familiarized with different vocabularies, structures,
writing style and techniques and more.

TASK 3

Graduation speech

▶️At this day, Our sleepless night and hard work had been payed off. I've found that this journey
has been incredibly freeing. Because no matter what happened, I had the piece of mind knowing
that all of the chatter, the name-calling, the doubting...all of it was just noise. It did not define me, it
didn't change who I was, and most importantly, it couldn't hold me back.. All of the shared
laughter and memories would be forever marked within my soul. As we continue unfold our
journey, may we all have the bright future that we all deserved. This not a farewell, this is just the
beginning of our chapter.

Reflection

▶️ Of all the language skills, writing is the most difficult especially for students who have less
experience with written expression. It's hard because doing it well matters, because stories matter,
and the details matter, and there are often a lot of details.

Fat cutting in Writing and Troublesome Grammar

TASK 1

1. Cutting fat is taking out unnecessary word or word phrases in the following sentences in order
for you to just simplify the sentence.

2. It is important to cut fats in a sentences because there are lots of confusing word that are very
alike with each others that many students may used it wrongly.

1. In the appendix, you will find a complete list of all references to the author's previous book.

2. Let's have a discussion on this particular issue some time.

3. In the very beginning, a diet and exercise program might not produced a result you expected, but
don't be discouraged.

Language competence and performance

ACTIVATION

▶️ My idea about this topic is it refers to the unconscious knowledge of grammar that allows a
speaker to use and understand a language. Language performance refers to the actual, real use of
language.

TASK 1

Know - In this topic, my mind has a little idea about language competence and performance
competence especially about the structures, grammar and so on.

Want - I want to learn more about the history of language competence and performance.

Learn - I learned that language competence and performance tacles about someone's ability
regarding to his/her language skills and the performance.

TASK 2

▶️ I can easily determine whether my students learned a language, students can demonstrate
learning of language through any of the following written products like research papers, journals,
reports, essays, and letters. Visual mastery. It is also easy to determine because my students has
their native language.

Reflection

▶️After learning in this topic, I realized that I belong to performance than competence.

Killer grammar

ACTIVATION

▶️ Killer grammar is similar can be similar to being the killer on the language communication
process. This explains that students are struggling in constructing a correct grammar.
TASK 1

Know - I know that this topic can be beneficial for an english major like me.

Want - In this topic, I want to understand why it is called killer grammar, it's history and more.

Learn - I learned that killer grammar is similar can be similar to being the killer on the language
communication process.

TASK 2

▶️Grammar is important because it provides information that helps the reader's comprehension. It
is the structure that conveys precise meaning from the writer to the audience. Eliminate
grammatical errors from your writing, and reward your readers with clear communication. Let us

▶️ In this topic, I realized that the use of correct grammar is important because it is the main
feature within both our spoken and written communication that allows us to have our messages
clearly understood.
