Week 22 What are some kinds of weather fronts?

Day 1 Cold - Warm - Starionary - Occluded
Genesis 8:1
But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark,
and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

What is a Front?

Fronts are boundaries between air masses of different temperatures.

What is a cold front?

A cold front is a boundary

Warm
between two air masses, one
cold and the other warm, Cold
moving so that the colder air
replaces the warmer air.

A cold front is represented

as a blue line with the teeth
pointing toward the direc-
tion on movement. Frontal Movement

What is a warm front?

A warm front is a boundary

between two air masses, one Warm
cool and the other warm,
moving so that the warmer
air replaces the cooler air. Cold
A warm front is represented
as a red line with half circles

Mark 4:39-41 Day 2
Week 22
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves,
“Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and
it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid?
Do you still have no faith?”
They were terrified and asked each other,
“Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

What is a stationary front?

A stationary front is a boundary between two air masses that more or less doesn’t move, but some stationary
fronts can wobble back and forth for several hundred miles a day. A stationary front is represented as an
alternating warm and cold front symbol.

Week 22

The density of each air mass can vary, causing a change in

the air. When the air becomes warmer, the molecules spread
out and cause the air molecules to go up.

When air becomes colder, the molecules come closer

together and cause the air molecules to go down. When air
masses meet, we get a few different types of fronts.

What is Precipitation?
Precipitation is any liquid or frozen water that forms in the atmosphere and falls to the Earth. It is one
of the three main steps of the global water cycle.

Precipitation forms in the clouds when water vapor condenses into bigger and bigger droplets of water.
When the drops are heavy enough, they fall to the Earth.

Day 3 What is a
Week 22
occluded front?

An occluded front is a
combination of two fronts
that form when a cold front
catches up and overtakes a
Warm Air warm front. An occluded
front is represented as a
purple line with teeth and
Cold Air half circles.

Cold Air Occluded fronts are

indicative of mature storm
systems.
