INSTRUCTION: In the class you are tasked to observe, take note of how the teacher use the deductive and inductive
methods of teaching. Write down your observation as well as your opinion on the teacher’s use of such methods.

Teaching Method Observation Opinion

Deductive Method The teacher starts the lesson with the Since the teaching learning approach,

experiences.
Inductive Method The teacher begins by typing first This method is very effective, because

those who don’t normally do.

Which of the two methods was mostly used by the teacher’s what can you say about this?

Based on my observation the mostly method used by teacher is the inductive method of teaching. Wherein the
lesson started based on the answers of the students, which is very effective because there is a sharing of knowledge
between the teacher and the students.
PROCESSING QUSETIONS AND ANALYSIS

1. Which of the two methods do you think is the most useful for the student in the classroom you observed?
Explain.
I think the most useful method is the Inductive. It allows the students to make meaningful connections
between concepts learned in class and real-life situations. It is an effective method that helps the students
become actively inform in the learning process.

2. Which of the two methods enabled the teacher to draw out active participation among the student? Explain why
this is so.

Inductive method is the one that allows the students to participate actively in the discussion. The lesson
started with the experiences of the students about one scenario. In that way there is a communication happens
between the teacher and the students.

3. As a future teacher, how will you use the deductive and inductive methods of teaching to foster a healthy
learning environment for learners?

I will start my lesson with the inductive method, wherein the discussion will be based on the given
experiences of the learners based on the situation that I will post in the board. In that way, the students will
become excited because they can relate with the discussion.

INSIGHT AND REFLECTION

What insight and reflection can you derive from this specific field of study experience?

There is a specific subject that we can apply the deductive and inductive method. Both approaches can offer
certain advantages, but the biggest difference is the role of the teacher. The deductive method according to Bob
Adamson, it teaches grammar in an isolated way. For example, we are dealing with highly motivated students, we are
teaching them a particularly difficult concept, or we are simply preparing them for upcoming exams. In contrast,
inductive method, we are giving many examples to the students until they get the concept that we used.

Both inductive and deductive method are valuable in teaching concepts, generalizations, process and skills. The
teacher is the one that will decide what he will used to attain the learning outcomes desired.

CLOSING DISCUSSION
State (5) key learning points that you were able to capture in this field study experience.

A deductive approach to instruction is a more teacher-centered approach. This means that the teacher
gives the students a new concept, explains it, and then has the students practice using the concept.

Inductive method makes use of student “noticing”. Instead of explaining a given concept and following
this explanation with examples, the teacher presents students with many examples showing how the
concept is used. The intent is for students to “notice”, by way of the examples, how the concept works.

MY KEY
Students will usually be more involved in the learning experience and tend to participate more actively
LEARNING when an inductive approach is used. If a deductive approach is chosen, it is important to structure the
learning experience in order to draw on students' prior experiences and learning, and to provide for their

POINTS active involvement.

Both deductive and inductive sequences are valuable for teaching concepts, generalizations, processes,
and skills. The teacher must decide which to select given the learning outcomes desired and the
composition of the class.

Students tend to understand and remember more when learning occurs inductively.
