Writing Assignment 2 Name: _Abdul Samad___

Preparation ID#_12647

1. What behavior do you want to work on changing over the next two weeks?
Ans. I have a behavior of procrastinating before doing important tasks. This wastes a lot of
time and I am left with less time for my hobbies or for socializing with friends. Also, this
reduces the quality of work I do because I delay the tasks until the last moment. I am
working on changing this behavior over the next two weeks so that it does not affect my
studies as my final exams are near, I don’t want my grades to drop.

2. What is your precise goal? (for example: exercise three times a week for 20 minutes at a
moderate intensity)
Ans. I want to change my habit of procrastinating and delaying my tasks till the last moment. I
want to stop wasting time scrolling on Facebook, listening to music and oversleeping. Similarly I
want to end eating snacks in the middle of meals. In short, I want to stop wasting my time on all the
unproductive activities and make better use of my time and spend time on productive work and
activities.

3. Why do you want to change this behavior? (What are the benefits?)
Ans. I want to change this behavior because it is negatively affecting my life. There are
many benefits after I stop procrastinating. I will have more time for my tasks and they will
be done in a more proper manner. I will also have more time for studies and will take
better grades. I will also have time left to spend with friends and for socializing. I will also
have time left for other hobbies. And with extra time I can learn new skills.

4. What are some potential barriers that may make changing this behavior difficult?
Ans. Distractions are the key barrier in changing procrastination behavior. Smart phones distract a
lot. A single message can waste minutes while watching just one YouTube video attracts the user
into watching more and hours are gone without even realizing. Facebook is also a prime time
consumer. Other barrier is a biological one which is laziness. Laziness causes a lot of wastage of
time. Lack of motivation also causes procrastination. Not arranging schedules in a proper manner
also causes procrastination.

5. How will you go about changing it? (for example: enlist others to help you, give yourself
rewards/punishments, remind yourself in a special way)
Ans. One of the main ways is going to be making a daily schedules when I wake up or before
sleeping about all the tasks I have to perform throughout the day. Other than that, I can watch a
motivational video before any important task so that I remain focused and don’t get distracted. I
can set reminders on my phone for all the important tasks throughout the day. On completing all
tasks I can reward myself with a movie or going out with friends. And in case of not completing all
the tasks and wasting time. I can punish myself by turning my phone off for a few hours. I will also
print and hang banners with motivational banners in my room.
6. How will you keep track of your progress? (describe your data sheet and include a copy)
Ans. Every day before sleeping, I will check my schedule for all the tasks that I have completed.
This will I will have a track of my progress. After that I will check for the screen time on my
phone. If the screen time is more than required. I will try to reduce it. A screen time screenshot of a
normal day and a schedule for a busy day have been attached.
