CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter incorporates the methodology of the study. It exhibits the data in

acquiring the essential information connected to the study. In this section, the

researchers outlines the research design, research locale involving the procedures on

evaluating the research variables and how it will be examined and interpreted.

Research Design

This research design refers to the overall strategy that choose to integrate the

different components of the study in a coherent and logical way, thereby, ensuring you

will effectively address the research problem; it constitutes the methods, measurement

and analysis of data (Labaree, 2009).

Methods

Indicative to the development of electromagnetic stairs, methods of assembly will

be included. First, round up all the essential materials needed for the assembly of the

product. Second, measure and adjust the materials to the desired width and height

depending of the stairs it will be placed. Third, assemble the frame by connecting and

welding the metal bars to place and attaching the plywood step board according to size

and attaching the spring load for feedback of the step board. Fourth, attach thee wiring

to the alternator and to the battery. Fifth, attach the alternator to the frame. The last

assembly step is attach the axle that will connect the step board to the alternator and it

will be the one to spin the alternator by stepping on the step board.

Flowchart

Research Locale

The researchers will conduct a survey with the Grade 11 students of St. Anthony

Montessori, which is located at Sto. Cristo, San Jose, Batangas. The survey will be held

in the Physics Laboratory inside the premises of St. Anthony Montessori. Furthermore,

the product will be develop in the Science Laboratory of St. Anthony Montessori.

Population and Sampling

In the accumulation of data, the researchers have targeted the population of the

Grade 11 students who are taking STEM strand. The strategy that will be utilized in this

study is random sampling, a type of probability sampling that chooses the respondents

randomly and conveniently to avoid bias and other unwanted effects towards the result.

Random sampling refers to a variety of selection techniques in which sample members

are selected by chance, but with a known probability of selection (Lavrakas, 2008)

The respondents of this study were the Grade 11 STEM students in St. Anthony

Montessori. There were 29 Grade 11 STEM students in total yet the respondents

selected were only ten (10) students.

Statistical Analysis

The researchers have utilized the mean distribution to measure the trials or

attempts of the researchers on their experimentation.

The statistical mean refers to the mean or average that is used to derive the central

tendency of the data in question. It is determined by adding all the data points in a

population and then dividing the total by the number of points. The resulting number is

known as the mean or the average (Janssen, 2018)
