Methods and Techniques of the Study

This study utilized the descriptive method of research to appraise the relationship

Double between the independent variables namely stress areas, coping mechanism as moderating
space
variable also and profile variables such as: age, gender, length of service, civil status, and

educational attainment to the dependent variable namely teaching performance.

Sanchez (1980) said that the process of descriptive research goes beyond mere

gathering and tabulation of data. It involves the elements or interpretation of the meaning

or significance of what is described. And description is often combined with comparison

and contrast involving measurements, classifications, interpretation and evaluation.

Survey form of study specifically school survey were employed with the main

concern of hypothesis formulation, testing and analysis of the relationship between

independent variables and the dependent variable. To be able to gather necessary data,

unstructured interview and questionnaires were used in this study. Five sets of instrument

will be utilized namely: Personal data, Teachers Stress Questionnaire (TSQ), Coping

Mechanism Scale (CMS), Possible Solutions for Teacher Stress Problems and the

Performance Appraisal System for Teachers (PAST). The questionnaires will be given to

the respondents of the study. All the thirty three respondents will be assured that there
48

will be confidentiality with their answers. The non structured interview will be conducted

simultaneously since the questionnaires were given through close supervision.

The data were gathered, analyzed and computed through the use of excel

software. The statistical treatment such as frequency and percentage distribution,

weighted mean and the Pearson’s product moment coefficient of correlation were used in

describing and analyzing the objectives of this study. The data were organized and

presented in tabular form and some pie chart for descriptive analysis.

Population of the Study 3 single space

The subject of this study was the elementary teachers in Bangkal Elementary
Double School located at Bangkal, City of Malolos, Province of Bulacan. The totality of the
space
teachers for the school year 2007-2008 as the timeframe used in the study is thirty- three

(33) teachers. That consists of Thirty one (31) female teachers and two (2) male teachers.

As mentioned earlier Bangkal Elementary School was a new school in the district

of Malolos South. The dire need of a school for the relocated people of Bangkal, City of

Malolos resulted to the opening of the said school for the School year 2006-2007. It gave

the opportunity to some new teachers to teach and to have an item to be regular-

permanent teachers. Every year, from the time it was opened, new teachers are coming in

due to increasing enrollment of students.

Research Instruments

Five instruments will be utilized in this study in order to collect the needed data.

These are the Personal data, Teachers Stress Questionnaire (TSQ), Coping Mechanism

Scale (CMS), The Possible Solutions for Teacher Stress Problems and the Performance

Data Collection

After land preparation and application of vermicompost twice a week for 8 weeks,

the researcher will measure the plant height of L. sativa on the 9th week, days to first leaf

growth and number of leaves grown every seven days for 3 consecutive weeks in each

treatment and replication. The researcher will also record the total weight in grams of the

harvested L. sativa at the last week of the study period.

Statistical Treatment

One-way ANOVA will be used to statistically compute the significant difference

of each treatment. Tukey’s test will also be used for comparison and validity test.
