Popular Culture  is generally recognized by members of a society as a set of the practices,


beliefs, and objects that are dominant or prevalent in a society at a given point of time.

Republic of the Philippines is a sovereign state in archipelagic  Southeast Asia


 It is situated in the western Pacific Ocean, and consists of 7,107 islands, that are broadly
categorized under the three main  geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon,
Visayas, and Mindanao
 The Philippines was discovered by Ferdinand Magellan in 1521.
Philippine was named after King Philip II of Spain.

National Symbols and Identity of the Philippines consist of symbols that represent Philippine


traditions and ideals and convey the principles of sovereignty and national solidarity.

 Philippine National Flag has a rectangular design that consists of white equilateral
triangle, symbolizing liberty, equality and fraternity 

 Philippine National Flag has a horizontal blue stripe for peace, truth and justice; and a
horizontal red stripe for patriotism and valour. 

 In the center of the triangle is a golden-yellow sun with 8 rays represented by the
provinces that courageously defied and revolted against the Spaniards. 
 These are Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Batangas, Laguna and Nueva
Ecija. 
 At each vertex of the triangle is a five-pointed golden-yellow star, each of which
representing the one of the country’s tree main island groups—Luzon, Visayas and        
Mindanao.

 Philippine National Anthem is Lupang Hinirang (Chosen Land) Composed by  The lyrics
were adopted from the Spanish poem “Filipinas”, written by Jose Palma in 1899.

Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda

 He was born June 19, 1861 in Calamba City, Laguna and executed December 30,
1896 in Bagumbayan, patriot, physician, and a man of letters who was an
inspiration to the Philippine nationalist movement.

can survive in confined spaces.

 Carabao Mango (Mangifera Çarabao) is a variety of particularly sweet mango
from the Philippines. It is considered as the “golden heart” of every Filipinos.
 
 
 Philippine National Flower
 Sampaguita (Jasminum sambac) is a sweet scented, its smooth velvety petals
tend to coil as they surround a golden corolla. It symbolizes purity, simplicity,  
humility and strength . The flowers are in bloom all year round.
