Mini Lesson Plan in Science

Content: Living and Non Living Things

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of the characteristic of living and
non living things.

Performance Standard: The learners should be able to illustrates the difference between living
and non living things.

Learning Competency: Compare living and non living things.

Duration: 60 minutes

I.Objectives:

The students should be able to:

• Compare living and non living things.

• Identify characteristics of living and nonliving things.

• Recognize that the objects that moves, grows, and reproduces are living things and those
objects who don’t have life is classified as non living things.

• Discover what are the things that can be classified as Living Things and Non Living Things as
they observe their sorroundings.

II. Subject Matter

Living and Non Living Things

A. Science Concept
1. A living thing pertains to any organism or a life form that possesses or shows the

III. Learning Tasks

Preliminary Activities

1. Greetings/Prayer/Checking of attendance
2. Checking of assignments
3. Drill:
Instruction: Roam your eyes inside the classroom with out making noise and observe.
List the objects that moves or has live and those objects that doesn’t move. Follow the
format below.

Objecs that move or has life Objects that doesn’t move

4. Review:
Instruction: Identify if the plants need the following to grow. Put check sign if the plants
need the given object and put cross sign if it doesn’t.
1. Water
2. Air
3. Salt
4. Sunlight
5. Soil

B. Engagement

Study the pictures below

Questions:

1. What do you see in the picture?

2. What are those objects that doesn’t have life or move?
3. How about those things that moves or grow?

The teacher will say:

You have recognized the objects that moves, grows, and repreduces. You also
recognized those objects that doesn’t have life or move. They are called living and non living
things. A living thing pertains to any organism or a life form that possesses or shows the
characteristics of life or being alive. A living thing is one that manifests life; it is alive. In essence,
a living thing is one that moves, grows, and reproduces. Compared with the entity that has life,
a non-living thing lacks the features that characterize a living thing. A non-living thing is made
up of elements or compounds that form from chemical reactions.Examples of non living things
atre rocks, water, and any object that do’t have life.

C. Exploration

The class will divided into 3 groups

Instruction: Roam arround the school and observe your sorroundings. Each group will list down
5 living things and 5 non living things. You will oonly have 15 minutes to accomplish your group
