Part I: Where You Want to Be
I.1. What Leadership Means to You
Here's what these items mean to me in Being a leader is a huge part of my life. I'm a
supervisor at Starbucks currently, and have
relation to leadership: been working towards becoming a manager
for some time now. My biggest passion in
Notebook: Self-Reflection. life is helping people be the best they can
be. I'm also a photographer, so that same
Phone: Accessibility & passion comes to light in a little more
Communication superficial way there, but is still prevalent
nonetheless. The same goes for my role at
Starbucks, I am constantly working with
Lightbulb: Innovation (such as the my team and peers to help them be the best
lightbulb once was.) they can in their current role, or grow into
the next role if they are wanting to.
Planner: Well... planning, time For my still life photo, I chose a notebook,
management my phone, a light bulb, and a planner. I
tried to get the mountains in the back as
that represents the challenges we face as
leaders.
I.2. Core Values
1. I always say my goal in life is to help people be the best they can be. whether it be in
improving in their current role, in growing into a new one, or just looking good for a photo.
2. Honesty - I was raised in a household in which was pretty understanding about making
mistakes, however, if you lied. It was like the end of the world. So now that value has carried
into my life.
3. Transparency - Sort of goes along with honesty, but I think transparency adds another aspect.
This goes for my professional life in a way that I share with my team if i need extra support
that day, but I also am going to tell them like I see it. I'm not going to shy away from a
conversation.
4. Dependability - This has always been one of my core values, especially as a leader. I always
strive to be consistent and dependable. Feedback I've gotten from my team, and even just my
friends has consistently been that I am always there when they need.
5. Creativity - I am a photographer, I originally started going to ASU for a photography degree
but lost the passion behind it so I changed majors. Keeping my passions alive, and being able to
translate them into my work is a huge goal for me in life.
I.3. Future Vision
In five to ten years I hope to just be happy. That is the biggest goal I’m working on
right now. Making intentional decisions to get me to a place where I feel content and
happy with my decisions. I’m unsure where I’ll be professionally, as I’m sort of in a
transition phase currently.
However, I hope that those around me will value my determination. I have learned a lot
from the leaders I've worked with. I have had to emerge as the leader in situations
where I should not have had to. I've had to push myself down to help lift others up. I've
been through many different situations as a leader, being in multiple stores, many
different leaders, and yet I have persevered. Hopefully they would also say that I did so
with kindness and care for my team. I have been told a lot especially recently that I
have the blessing and curse of good listening ears. One of my team members even says I
should've been a therapist because of the care I give to my team, and the way I make
sure they feel heard. I think thats the first step to being a good leader, is to make sure
that they know you are there for them. And that's what I would hope everyone in my
life would say. That I am truly focused on living my goals of helping support others to
be the best they can be.
Part II: Where You Are
II.1. Sociogram
I chose these people because I feel like they are the
people who are currently the most important in my life.
My parents obviously are a big part of my life, I recently
● Insert a picture of your sociogram moved back near them and have been building a much
stronger relationship with them. I'd say I got my core
here value of honesty from them. It was something they
always pushed. My friend Randi, who's connection is
bold, has been my best friend for 4 years. We have lived
together for three of those years, and have traveled the
world and been inseparable the whole time. She
inspires me to be creative and wish for greater things.
Hayley and Ally are my two work connections. Hayley
is my current manager, and I worked with Ally about 5
years ago and then now again. This strengthened our
relationship as a i transferred back into a store with her.
Eric is a good friend of mine who I have known pretty
much my whole life, same with Olivia. Mads and Cass
are two friends I have had for a long time but have
drifted from. They are still important to me because I
not only have a lot of great memories with them, but I
also gained some core values from them. Through my
relationship with Cass I have grown in my empathy.
She was one of my first friends who openly talked
about her mental health struggles and let me be
ignorant as I learned the right way to ask questions.
II.2. Leadership Practices Inventory Assessment
The things I scored myself the lowest on was that of bigger picture, future vision
type of things. I feel like I do this to a certain extent on the daily scale, but in my
role It isn't really a part of my job, it is more of my managers job to do that.
Sharing the dream of the future and things like that just aren't how I lead. I really
strive to assume the best in my partners and customers and try to help others do
the same, by giving alternate reasons for the way people may be acting.
Some of the things I rated myself the highest on were things like setting people
up for success to grow in their roles and spending time making sure the
standards are being met. I have a pretty direct sense of leadership and coaching.
Standards are standards and there is no reason to not meet that. However, there
has to be some understanding when it comes to knowledge gaps, you have to put
people in the positions that they need to be able to grow and learn the standards
properly.
II.4. Limiting Assumptions
I think the biggest assumption I make is how people
are going to perceive what I have to say. Often times
I can shy away from saying something out of fear of
the other persons reaction. Even if its not an external
reaction, I still worry they're going to internally
question my abilities, or think I'm dumb. This comes
to light in my personal and professional life. In social
situations with more than a few people I often times
keep to myself and don't talk much out of fear of I chose this image, because as cheesy as it
'embarrassing' myself, even if I know what I want to sounds, I think I would feel more free in a
say is completely fine or correct. This assumption I way if I was able to remove this assumption
feel stemmed from my childhood honestly, I've from my life.
worked through it a lot in my professional life. But as
a young person, my family would often disregard
what I had to say, or not give any actual praise or
acknowledgment for when I worked hard. Now I just
shy away from sharing out of fear.
II.5. What Matters Most to You
The three things that mean the most to me are my family/friends, taking care of my
own needs, and being honest in all I do.

This is an image of my best

friend/sister and I. She is one
of the main people who
inspires and encourages me
to keep moving forward and
stay in line with my values
and goals.
Part III: Getting from Where You Are
to Where You Want to Be
III.1. Competency Development Strategy
Three things that I really have to commit to in order to accomplish my goals:

1. Introspective and honest looking into what I actually want to do.

2. Investing time into myself, both personally and professionally in order to

improve in areas that will help me get where I want to be.

3. Working through the perception of how others perceive me and my feedback

III.2. Coaching Relationship(s)
My peer coaches have all put a lot of time and effort into our conversations.
Specifically into the questions they ask each week regarding growth and
experiences as a leader.
I often strive to ask others questions to help them come to the correct answers
on their own. That is exactly what my peer coaches did with me, and I was able
to see first hand how it can be beneficial. I also learned from their individual
experiences and how their application of the topics is different than my own.
I hope to continue doing similar things with my peers in my life outside of ASU
and continue to learn from their experiences, as well as help others with my own
and with similar coaching methods.
III.3. Learning Style and Flexibility
● How will your learning style and learning flexibility help you develop
competencies and build relationships?
This course has given me some great tools into digging deeper into where I am
currently at. I plan on continuing to utilize things like the LPI to assess growth
and areas for improvement.
This has also allowed me to understand how to better lay the groundwork and
ask the important/right questions when working with someone to help each
other improve like we have done with our peer coaches.
III.4. Action Plan
I currently journal at least a few sentences at the end of all my shifts, this helps
me be able to look back on my growth. This also helps me better understand
how my input helps those I’m working with. This simple thing honestly helps
with all three of the items I mentioned in III.1. By being more aware of my days,
my words and my progress, I will be able to assess next steps, and learn what I
did and didn’t like about each of the days.
III.5. Integrated Timeline
● Include a simple timeline of when you wish to accomplish your goals
● See below for an example

Part IV: Overall Conclusion
Conclusion
My favorite part of this final portfolio was being able to go back and review
some key things from this class and further apply them to my next steps.
This class has been really practical for me in my life, and my leadership, and I
feel that it will be beneficial in my current role as well as whatever is to come
next.
I really appreciate the practicality and goal setting parts of this course, and
especially in this final portfolio.
