FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT
Written Output 1: Conceptual Analysis and Application
A. Reflective Essay
Instruction: Think and imagine an artwork that you want to make, and write a short essay that will answer
the following questions below. State and elaborate your answer. (10 points)
What type of artwork it is?
What are the mediums that you will use?
What is the reason why did you choose this art medium?

I want to make a miniature statue of a nude woman embracing herself using air-dry clay. Statues fall
under sculpture and architecture category. Sculpture is a ‘three-dimensional art’ also known as 3D art that
occupy space and have volume. I feel that molding using clay to make a beautiful art will be exciting and
relaxing for me. As a beginner, using air-dry clay would be easy to use than other mediums because it is more
flexible and easily manipulated by my bare hands. Because of the type of the clay I'll be using, my statue will
be easy to air dry after I've molded it, and I'll be able to finally display my very own artwork. Molding will
make my hands busy and I think that would be also therapeutic because molding will clear my mind from
unnecessary thoughts. I've always wondered how much effort and hard work it takes to create a single
statue, which is why I'd like to challenge myself by making one and satisfy my interest in creating my own
clay statue.

because of their flexibility; they can draw, color, shade, sketch, and so on.
