1.0 OBJECTIVES : Wireless Network Survey

5.0 ACTIVITY:
 Operations Representative shall attend the meeting with the client along with a Sales
representative to understand the client’s requirements specifications for the wireless
network.

 Understand the client’s requirement by enquiring about various aspects of the wireless
network. (What is the purpose of the wireless network? What applications will be running on
the wireless network? What brand the client wants as the vendor for the wireless network?).

 Categorize the client’s requirements into one of the following category


o Entry Level (D-Link/TP-Link )
o Mid Level (UBNT /Linksys)
o Premium Level (Cisco/Aruba/Ruckus)

 Floor plan or building drawing should be obtained from the client. If not available the
Operations representative shall visit the installation site and prepare a diagram of the site. All
the possible interference items shall be indicated in the diagram.

 Operations manager shall assign a Project Executive for a wireless survey.

 Project Executive shall then visit the site with the required equipments for the wireless
survey. Wireless survey shall be conducted preferably using a mobile phone for more
accurate survey. The number of required access-points shall be noted by the project
executive. PoE as well as local power supply both options should be considered when
conducting the wireless survey.

 Suggest a solution (Centralized/Distributed) based on the information collected in the


wireless survey.

 A BOQ (Bill of Quantity) shall be prepared based on the solution suggested and will be then
forwarded to the Operations manager for review and he will then in turn forward it to the Sales
Representative.
