Part I. Direction: Make a mind map of what you have learned on Chapter 2 by follow
the instructions below.
• Enter the Main Topic. Start by

of the mind map. For this task, main
topic is "Historical Background of
Philippine Literature."

I’ve learned that Pre-Colonial Period is Based on oral traditions, Crude on


ideology and phraseology. It was also Consisted of early Filipino literature passed down
orally; oral pieces have a communal authorship. The Spanish Colonization Period has
two distinct classifications: religious and secular. introduced Spanish as the medium of
communication. As reflected in the works of this literature period, showed a
clash with the pre-colonial Filipino literature in the beginning. However, due to the
length of stay of the colonizers, the Spanish culture was eventually imbued in the
Filipino literature of the period. The Revolutionary Literature is more on more
propagandistic than literary as it is more violent in nature and demanded complete
independence for the country.
