I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course deals with the nature of identity, as well as the factors and forces that affect the
development and maintenance of personal identity. This course is intended to facilitate the
exploration of the issues and concerns regarding the self and identity to arrive at a better
understanding of one’s self.
II. LEARNING OUTCOMES: At the end of the term, the students will be able to:

1. Define and discuss the nature, meaning, importance of the said study in relation to the given
theories and representations that conceptualize the Understanding of the Self from various
perspectives.
2. Compare and contrast how the self has been represented across different disciplines and
perspectives.
3. Examine the different influences, factors and forces that shape the self.

4. Adapt the different aspects of self and identity.
5. Execute critical, reflective thought in integrating the various aspects of self and identity.
6. Identify the different forces and institutions that impact the development of various aspects of
self and identity.

7. Act on new skills and learnings for the betterment of managing one’s behavior and self.
8. Develop the competence in carrying oneself in different life situations.

III. EVIDENCE OF LEARNING

At the end of the semester, students will be asked to submit a summary journal of each topics
discussed as well as the accomplishment of the final reflection paper to bring about the completion
of the course.

VIII. POLICIES

1. Attendance:
Students are responsible for all written task and updated to any given announcements posted in the
FB Group Class or Messenger Group Chat. It is expected that all students as much as possible
submit online works in due time.

Students are expected to be diligent, honest, polite, participative, responsive and responsible in
every way much more in this kind of learning activity or situation. Lastly, instructions to any given
task are to be observed.
