Analyzing the Advantages of

Using Visual Aids in Teaching
Countable and Uncountable
Nouns in an ESL Classroom
Significance Overview
Problem statement: Difficulty in teaching the
concept of countable and uncountable nouns
among the year 4 teachers based on
practicum phase 1 experience.
Every individual has the tendency to forget.
Proper use of visual aids helps to retain more
concept permanently.

Students can study well when they are
inspired properly through different visual aids.
The literature review written for this research
found that visual aids bring positive impact in

Research Objectives
1. To investigate the effectiveness of
using visual aids in teaching countable
and uncountable nouns.

2. To investigate the teacher's

perception of using visual aids in
teaching.

3. To study the advantages of using

visual aids rather than using words to
explain concepts.

 Quantitative Research
Surveys will be used to collect and analyze data.
The survey will investigate the teacher's experience of
using visual aids towards the use of visuals in teaching.
Surveys are also used to investigate the effectiveness of
using visuals in learning the concept of countable and
uncountable nouns among the upper primary pupils.

Methodology
The data will be collected and compared.

Participants involved
The participants involved in this research will include
both male and female, various ages ranging from 22-40.
The survey questions will be distributed to all year4
English teachers of Sk Pekan Kinarut, Papar.
 Number of Questions
The teachers will be answering the questions based on
likert scale.
And there will be 4 questions and 1 open ended question
for the teachers to answer.

Methodology
Collecting and analyze data
The surveys will be done through Google Forms.
The collected data will be analysed and represented in
the percentage distribution of pie and bar graphs.
The analysis of the data will indicate the majority of the
teachers who have positive perceptions of the use of
visual aids.
