With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcome:
Solve oral and written exercises about the segmental features of the English sounds.
The activity consists of:

Step 1:
Go to the Learning Environment and in the Course Contents and Bibliographic
References for Unit 1, read Chapter 3: The Articulation of English Sounds.
In Introductory Phonetics and Phonology of English. (pp. 15-20).

Step 2:
Get familiar with the IPA alphabet watching the following video of the English
consonant sounds:

Step 3:
Record yourself in a video pronouncing the consonant symbols in isolation and in
words; It is important that you consider the articulators involved in the production of
the sound of each symbol, as well as its place and manner of articulation, check the
following specifications:

- Show your face and mouth when pronouncing the sounds, I need to see your
performance in the articulation of the sounds.
- Show the symbols as you pronounce them, in order to facilitate the
identification of the symbols and be able to give you meaningful feedback (you
can use posters, flashcards or the tool https://screencast-o-matic.com/)
- Give examples of the sounds in words or sentences.

- For this activity just focus on the consonant sounds.

Step 4:
Go to the Learning Environment, intermediate moment, in the folder of the activity
guide evaluation rubric – Unit 1 – Task 2 – Consonant sounds, open the document
named Practical Exercises and develop the exercises individually according to the
readings of the course.
