I. Performance Standard:
The learner will be able to demonstrate understanding and appreciation of 21st century
literature of the world through a written close analysis and critical interpretation of a
literary text in terms of form and theme, with a description of its context derived from
research.

II. Description: Compose a poem incorporating different figures of speech.

III. Given: Poem Writing Contest


As the class representative, you are to compete for a poem writing contest in your
campus. Different themes were provided along with the mechanics of the competition.
Remembering the lessons discussed in your literature class becomes a writing edge for
you to ace the said contest.

IV. Requirement: Poem Making


Compose a four stanza with four lines poem about any of the following:
A. Something most people see as ugly but which you see as beautiful
B. A place you visited – how you imagined it beforehand, and what it was actually like
C. An important life choice you’ve made
D. A time you were tempted to do something you feel is wrong
E. Physical attraction to someone

The use of different figures of speech from the class discussion should be observed in the
making of the poem.
