Removal

 Prepare engine and remove

fuel injection pump drive as
per instruction (CT 1018).
[A]
 CA straightedges and CS
locking tool must be used.
 Remove lower timing belt guard,
viscous cooling fan drive
sprocket and bracket plate with
idlers.
 Unscrew drive sprocket for IP
drive, loosen CA center bolts,
using counterhold 3036.
 Insert hex key into tensioning
pulley and, applying moderate
pressure, slowly press in
clockwise until stud 40011 can
be inserted.[A]
 Completely remove both CA
sprockets from cone seat using
puller and also sprocket on left
for cylinders 4-6 together with
timing belt.
 Fit new tensioning pulley
(42Nm), water pump, idler and
tensioning lever plus damper
(10Nm).

Fitting

 Fit timing belt, starting at CS [B]

sprocket, then around right CA
sprocket, tensioning pulley, idler,
water pump and, finally, left CA
sprocket. Tighten sprocket/pulley
bolts only just to point where
sprockets/pulleys can still rotate on
cone.
 Apply clockwise pressure to
tensioning pulley using hex key
until stud T40011 can be withdrawn.
 Then pretension timing belt by
applying 15 Nm counterclockwise
[C]
torque to pulley [B].
 Tighten center bolts of CA
sprockets to 75 Nm using 2
counterhold 3036.
 Fit bracket plate for viscous cooling
fan [C]
Tightening torques: (1) 45Nm; (2)
10 Nm; (3) 22 Nm; (4) 10 Nm
 Refit fuel injection pump drive as
per separate instruction (CT 1018).
