INTRODUCTION

Good day! I know it has been a while since the last time
we met and today I am glad to inform that we are going
to have a fun learning new topic again. Our focus for
today is VOICES OF THE VERB.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS MODULE?

We all know that because of our current situation, face to face or the traditional way of teaching
is prohibited. As a result, modular learning has been introduced. In this method, modules are
provided. Through this module, it will help you gain more knowledge and express yourself in a
various way. You can use this module in your home. Stay calm and try your best as you can
because in this module you have a different task that you need to answer, all you have to do is to
read, understand and follow the instructions in all activities.

PARTS OF THE MODULE


This module contains fun and beneficial parts. To fully digest the learnings, take each
step and you will surely gain the knowledge that we want you to benefit.

Pre-test. This part is designed for you to engage in a diagnostic test to have
self-evaluation on your prior knowledge.

Lesson Proper. This part guides you to the lesson you have to learn. You
need to focus on this part and always remember that you are not alone each of the steps. You
may ask your teacher, parents, and guardians for help or clarifications.

Post-test. This part gives you an assessment on the acquired knowledge and
skills you gained while doing each task. References. This part tells the sources
such as links, sites, and books to where the significant texts have been based
from.

Key to Correction. This part reveals the answer key to the pretest, activities,
and post-test given on this module.

Each part plays important role in our learning process. Discover each part in order and see how
you have enhanced your skills at the end of this module.

 Verb- is the action in the sentence.

Carl eats apples.

(eats is the verb that shows the action in the sentence)

 Subject- is the doer of the action.

Carl eats apples.

(Carl is the subject who does the action)

 Object- is the person or thing that receives the action of the verb. It is the
who or what that the subject does something to.
ABSTRACTION
I hope that the previous activities help you identify the subject, verb, and direct
object. Those three elements that I’ve mentioned is connected to our main topic
which is the voices of the verb.

The voices of the verb are:

1. Active voice- the voice of the verb is active when the subject comes
before the verb.
Example: Carl eats apples.

2. Passive voice- the voice of the verb is passive when the subject is acted upon
by the object of the verb.

Example: Apples are eaten by Carl.

APPLICATION
Direction: Point out the subject, verb and object in the sentence. Underline once the subject,
twice for the verb and encircle the object in each sentence.The first sentence is done for you.

1. The family sows the transplanted seedlings in their field.

2. The birds eat the dried palay.

3. The man plows the field with a hand tractor.

4.The farmers sow the field with rice seeds.

5. They fed the carabao after using it.

6. The farmers weed the fanong of the field.

7. Lumbaya carried and spread (mampantag) the rice (pachog) in the field for

transplanting.

8. The child brought the snack of the workers to the rice field.

9. The farmer’s son fixes (tampi) the borders (fanong) of the field.

10. Mother cooked chay-ot for our snack.

knowledge and skills in using modal verb of obligation.

Post-test. This part gives you an assessment on the acquired knowledge and skills
you gained while doing each task.

TASK 4: REWRITE ME

Directions: Rewrite each sentence changing the verb from active to passive voice.

To change the sentence from active to passive, we just make the direct object the subject of
the sentence and subject or the doer is placed with the by-phrase. The verb is written in this
format: be verb + past participle of the main verb.
