Subject: Shipping Supplies
Hey everyone,
It’s Tom here from logistics. I would like to start by thanking everyone for your hard
work and diligence in launching the Dixie Outdoors website. In this day and age,
more and more customers are choosing to do their shopping online, and we’ve already
seen explosive sales figures for online retail after only one month. We’ve got a few
glitches to work out, but thanks to all of you, we’ve been able to streamline our
business model. So please, everybody, give yourselves a pat on the back!

On a lesser note, there is one area of concern that needs to be addressed. Customers
have complained recently that their online orders were shipped in inappropriate and
offensive containers; namely, boxes that advertise alcoholic beverages. Some of our
more conservative customers have voiced their opinions on the matter in a negative
way. If you need to ship out an internet order, make sure that it’s in an appropriate
box. This means no alcohol boxes, or any other boxes with labels or designs that may
be considered inappropriate by the general public.
Thanks everybody,
Tom

Subject: Shipping Materials
Tom,
Clarissa here from the Tuscaloosa store. Thank you very much for your kind words
about the website launch. It always feels nice to have your hard work validated. With
regards to the shipping materials, I have a few things that I would like to discuss. As
you know, our store has a larger inventory than many of the other locations, so by
default, we have been filling out more of the internet orders. I would say that we fill
out at least 30-40 orders a week. This puts a real strain on our shipping materials, and
in a lean economy, headquarters has made cuts on the spending money that they give
each store to buy supplies, such as boxes. I don’t know if you are aware, but the price
of a new box purchased from a shipping supply store can be $8-$10, depending on the
size and thickness of the cardboard. This situation is not sustainable, so I figured that
obtaining free boxes from the local liquor store would be much more cost effective. In
my opinion, the complaints of the customers are unfounded. It’s tantamount to
receiving exactly what you wanted for Christmas and criticizing the person that gave
you the gift for their choice in wrapping paper. Unless headquarters want to give us
more money for shipping supplies-and I mean a lot more money-I am going to
continue on with my current shipping methods, despite what a few out-of-touch
customers have to say about it.
Regards,
Clarissa

This third album from Berlin band, Hamster Destroyed the City, offers a delightful
fusion of ska and punk. Yet again, the band displays an original sound, perhaps most
notably the wonderfully energetic vocal performance of singer Klaus Waloshek. The
band's range of style seems at times completely unrestricted, ranging from the driving
powerful rhythm of tracks such as the album's opener, Die Seltsame Wurst, to the
sublime, gentle reggae beat of Lacherlich Hose. In spite of previously being criticised
for being too political, Hamster Destroyed the City continue to deliver social
commentary, using their music to try to make a difference, while offering catchy,
memorable songs guaranteed to appeal to a huge range of fans. The album gets a
massive thumbs up from this writer, and hopefully Hamster Destroyed the City will
continue to fulfill their potential with plenty more musical magic in the future.

PUPPIES FOR SALE
Make an addition to your family today
Hello, everyone, my name is Brandy Chase and my husband and I would like to
announce that our beautiful German shepherd, Beatrice, has given birth to six
charming puppies. The litter consists of 4 females and 2 males, each one as cute as the
next. The puppies have spent the past couple of weeks gaining their strength and
getting their bearings, but they are now ready for adoption. These are full-bred
puppies with certificates of pedigree. Each puppy costs $500 or best offer. Remember
that German shepherds are known for their strength, intelligence, obedience, and
trainability, which is why they are frequently partnered up with police officers.
Having said that, they also make excellent family pets. If you are interested, please
send us an email at Brandygirl546@hotmail.com. Please see below for an image of
the puppies when they were only two days old. We look forward to hearing from you.

Subject: Puppies
Dear Brandy,

My name is Martha Henderson and I am writing you to enquire about the German
shepherd puppies. My daughter, Marlene, has just bought a new house and her
husband’s dog, Baxter, recently passed away. He was getting old, but he was a real
fixture in the household. They have two small children, so the new dog must be very
good around kids. Also, Marlene and her husband frequently partake in outdoor
activities, so I hope German shepherds like to get some exercise.

Could we come by sometime next week to have a look at the puppies? Also, before
we do so, I need to address a few concerns. Have the puppies been vaccinated? Since
we plan to spend some time in the wild, it is important that the pups are resistant the
dangers of the outdoors. Also, I noticed that your ad says “or best offer.” Have you
received any other offers yet? How low would you be willing to go? Finally, have any
of the pups been taken yet? We don’t have a preference in the sex, but it would still be
nice to be able to choose the one we like the most when we come over. My daughter
has a very intimate relationship with animals, so she would really like to spend a little

The International Beer Pub
Review #98
Review title: Massive disappointment
1 star
Date visited: Friday, March 11
Time of visit: 5-6 PM

Review: I’m from Elister but I’ve been living abroad for several years. On my most
recent visit home, I was thrilled to hear that we now have a pub specializing in
international beers. However, in the single hour that my mate and I visited, we
encountered disappointment upon disappointment.

First, the hostess barely acknowledged us as we entered because she was too busy on
her phone. After we were seated, we noticed from a little advert on the table that it
was happy hour. But their idea of a “happy hour” is that if you buy three of the same
kind of beer, you get one free. Who wants to go to a bar with 300 kinds of beer, then
only drink the same one all night?
Next came our biggest disappointment. After we carefully selected the beers that we
wanted from the long list on the menu, the server informed us that not one but both of
the beers we wanted to order were out of stock. Disappointed, we looked at the menu
for a few more minutes then came up with a second choice. Again, both out of stock!!
We decided to ask her what similar beers they DID have, upon which she answered
that she didn’t really know which ones were similar. You would think that a waitress
working a bar that specializes in different kinds of beer would at least know her stuff.
We asked her to go ask the bartender, which she did, and the bartender himself
recommended Guinness. That’s right, Guinness. A beer that you can find in every
single bar in town.
The International Beer Pub is not what it sells itself as. Maybe they have 300+ beers
on their menu, but don’t expect them to actually have any of them! The least they
could do is update their menu or have little stickers covering the items that are
unavailable.
Won’t be visiting again.
Matt T., Manager at The International Beer Pub, responded to this review, 14 May
2014
Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to review The International Beer Pub. We highly
appreciate the feedback as it can help us to improve our service. I am very sorry to
hear that you had a poor experience. Please allow me to offer an explanation.
According to the date of your visit, we were in the middle of a distributor changeover.
We had a bad experience with a previous one, but hadn’t yet received our first order
for our next one. It is very unusual for us to run out of so many beers, but that week
was one exception. Secondly, I think you had a bit of bad luck in your selection.
While it is true that we ran out of a few dozen types, we still had well over 200 bottled
imports available.
As for the staff members that you mentioned, I’m sorry they behaved in this way. We
have hired almost entirely new staff since your visit, and all of our new servers have
undergone intensive training so as to be able to answer any product questions our
customers throw their way.

Regarding your suggestion to indicate which drinks are unavailable, thank you for
that. We’ve had the same comment from a few other customers, and are about to roll
out new printed paper menus that ONLY include available beers, and customers will
be able to easily circle whichever ones they want. I would urge you to give us a
second chance on your next visit.
Thanks and have a wonderful day.

To whom it may concern,
I would like to voice a formal complaint about an unfortunate event involving an old
man and a pack of raccoons that occurred in Bastion Pond Park on Saturday,
September 24th, 2013.
On that beautiful afternoon, I was taking my grandfather, Donny, out for a weekend
stroll when several aggressive raccoons came out of nowhere and accosted him while
he was eating his lunch at a picnic table. As the raccoons raced towards us, I was
petrified, and as they scratched ferociously at my grandfathers’ legs and arms he fell
wearily to the ground and banged his elbow on the root of an old dogwood tree. As he
lay there, battered and confused, I couldn’t help but notice that the fall caused him to
stain his brand-new white trousers.
This raccoon infestation in your park must be dealt with swiftly. I demand a letter of
apology and payment for the dry cleaning bill for my grandfather’s pants.
Thank you and good day,
Terry Blankenship

Dear Mr. Blankenship,
We are regretfully sorry to hear the news of the event involving the raccoons and your
grandfather. We are fully aware of the recent spike of encounters between people and
raccoons in our parks. Please rest assured that we are doing everything in our power
to mitigate it.
Sadly, many of our park’s patrons are fond of feeding the raccoons and trying to take
‘selfies’ with the animals to upload onto social media websites. We do not condone
this activity, and to be blunt, we are sick and tired of it.
To address your demands, we will happily send your grandfather a letter of apology,
but I am afraid that we are not liable for the soiled clothing. Therefore, we formally
deny your request for us to pay the dry cleaning bill. We hope you understand.
Thank you for your concern about the parks, Mr. Blankenship. We value our patrons
and we hope to have the raccoon infestation under control as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time,
Paige Callahan

To: Tina Slater

Hey, Tina! Long time no see. I don't know if you remember me, but we met a while
back in Chiang Mai while traveling last April. You may recall I have long, red hair
and I was on my way to China and then New York after Thailand. I just wanted you to
know that I will be in Taipei from July 17th to 31st because I have some time off
work. That gives me exactly two weeks to explore the beautiful island that you call
home.

If you have time, could you please recommend some interesting places to visit? I
really want to experience Taiwanese cuisine, spirituality, and some of the natural
beauty of the island. I hear there are a lot of great hiking trails. Is that true? I'll be
traveling with my friend, Dave, who isn't as keen on steep trails, so hopefully we
could find a trail that isn't too difficult and is more accessible to hikers without much
experience. Of course, if you would like to tag along at any point during our trip, we'd
love to have your company. We'll have to get dinner in Taipei at the very least. Thanks
for your time, Tina. Hope to hear from you soon!
Best,
Chris Jakubowski

To: Chris Jakubowski

Hey, Chris. Great to hear from you! Where are you living these days? Still working as
a travel agent, I presume? It's great to hear that you and your friend, Dave, will be
coming to Taiwan for a visit. In two weeks you should be able to see a great deal of
the island. I would recommend spending a few days in Taipei and soaking up some of
the sights in the city. Taipei is a very convenient city to travel around, and you can see
many amazing sites such as Longshan Temple, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and
Shilin Night Market all in one day. While you're here, you might as well go up to the
top of the Taipei 101 building as well. As far as food goes, there are too many good
restaurants to count, but I definitely suggest getting your hands on a good bowl of
beef noodle soup.

From there, I'd suggest hopping on a train and getting down to the east coast. The
county of Yilan boasts some impressive waterfalls, and it's not too far from Taipei.
You can also go to the nearby town of Jiaoxi for a nice hot spring experience.
From Yilan, I suggest going further south to Taroko Gorge. It's a must-do for any
traveler in Taiwan. Rent some scooters and make your way back into some absolutely
amazing scenery. There are trails for all hiking levels there, and I advise you to bring
your camera! It's absolutely stunning.

If you have time, you could head over to the west coast and check out the city of
Tainan. There you'll find the largest collection of old temples and buildings on the
island. Definitely check out the Confucius Temple. It's my personal favorite.

I really hope I can meet up with you guys on your trip, but I will have to check my
work schedule to see if it is possible. Where are you guys staying in Taipei? If you
like, you can stay at my place. We've got an extra room and a very comfortable couch.
Just let me know! Talk to you soon.
