Q8 The cable of a uniformly loaded suspension bridge hangs in the form of a parabola .The
roadway which is horizontal and 100 m long is supported by the vertical wires attached to
the cable, the longest wire being 30 m and the shortest being 6 m. Find the length of a
supporting wire attached to the roadway 18 m from the middle.
Q9 Using section formula , prove that the three points (-4,6,10),(2,4,6) and (14,0,2) are
collinear.
Q10 A solution of 8% boric acid is to be diluted by adding a 2% boric acid solution to it. The
resulting mixture is to be more than 4% but less than 6% boric acid. If we have 640 litres of
the 8% solution , how many litres of the 2% solution will have to be added?

b) The student has opted neither NCC nor NSS.
