Guidance and Counselling:

1. Adjustmental – The guidance/school counselor give assistance, words of wisdom,

and help to the students who are especially new to the environment or to their
current situation where they feel uneasy, ashamed, and uncomfortable. Giving
advice is a very big help to the students so that they can accept things, adjust, and
continue with daily activities in their life whether at home or at school. Thus, this
helps students get to know themselves better and find effective solutions to their
daily problems. Finally, guidance/school counselors help students adjust
themselves and their environment in a healthy way.

2. Orientation - Providing orientation to students especially beginners is important so

that they have an idea of what the school policies are and what activities can give
them development. There are various groups inside the school that students can
join to hone their skills, talents, extra personal and intrapersonal skills.
Guidance/school counselors can orient students on how they can showcase their
skills to become productive students in the school.

3. Developmental – Guidance/school counselor can help students with their school

and career planning. School counselors always encourage the students to do their
best in academic, social, emotional, and personal development. School counselors
give students necessary support such as helping them to understand themselves
and their needs, to solve their problems, to make realistic decisions, and improve
their abilities and skills. For example, they can: coach students on their study
skills, help plan schedule, help improve grades/problems in class, advise on the
preparation for college and help students learn about careers, and plan for life after
high school.
