I spent most of my adult working life in the corporate environment. I knew that
I had to be tough, relentless and always available. Working in an engineering
company, in many meetings I was on my own amongst all men. I was an over
achiever for many years, trying to prove that I was worthy of all the bonuses,
promotions and recognitions. It got me far in terms of success but low in my
mood, energy, fulfilment and health. I knew that it was unsustainable and
not how I wanted to live my life, but I had a total fear of failure if I changed
anything.
I started asking myself, can I desire more? I already have so much, what else
do I need? Is it OK for me to want more, to be more and to be different? I was
craving creativity like never before. I was feeling caged, detached from my
emotions, and totally stuck in my head - all signs of the wounded masculine.

If I was working in this profession and I’d already opened my own salon, I’d always be
looking to expand on it, so how would I do it by using the Octopus Method. Firstly, I’d look
at my business as a whole, and this is just an example of what I’d be asking, what I’d be
answering and what ideas I can implement to move to the next level:
A
Who do I serve? My demographic is mainly women between 30 – 45
IDEA: Add a discount / new product / new service that will attract an additional
demographic for older women
IDEA: Change your branding to a ‘lifestyle look’
B
Why do I serve them? To make them feel good about themselves
IDEA: Host a fashion show or VIP Champagne party
IDEA: Ask them to fill in a customer satisfaction form to find out what they might like
C
What do I do for them? I transform their appearance and build their confidence.
IDEA: Offer confidence building products and get feedback
IDEA: Hire a ‘chair’ to a beauty consultant who can do nails within the salon
D
Where does it happen? At my salon
IDEA: To attract an older demographic, add a home salon service or a mobile styling service
IDEA: Create an easy online booking service
E
When do I do this? Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 5pm
IDEA: Open later two mornings per week and stay open later on those days
IDEA: Hire someone to work the additional days you would normally stay closed

H E A LT H
Without the knowledge or tools to manage those emotions,
we initially store them in the layers of our aura, the energy
around our body. Over time they become heavier as other
experiences and similar energy is added. This energy then
becomes denser and moves through the layers of the aura
until it becomes physical, and we experience it as heaviness,
physical weight and or disease. There are no miracle shakes,
exercise programmes or calorie reduction that can make
these experiences go away until we are ready to be aware of
the energy so we can release it.
Where am I holding
this in my energy?
Through my own spiritual awakening and learning new ways
to work with energy, I discovered I was carrying weight for
many, many reasons. Much to my surprise, it was nothing
to do with what I ate or how much I exercised. I found that
it’s also helpful being in a group of people to become more
self-aware together. As I released many beliefs, it gradually
became clear why I was holding onto the weight. It was not
the physical weight that needed to change but my thoughts
about me, others and my life.
