1. How do the disciplines of social sciences differ from natural sciences and humanities in terms of
nature and functions?
- The discipline of social sciences differs from natural sciences because, through the
disciplines of anthropology, history, economics, political science, and sociology. The
social sciences examine how human beings interact in a collective environment. The
humanities major purpose is to educate students to think creatively and critically about
what it is to be human, as well as to explore questions about the nature of our
environment and our existence. On the other hand, observation and experimentation are
used in natural sciences. To characterize, predict, and aid in the understanding of natural
occurrences.
2. Cite at least five examples on how the disciplines of social sciences, natural sciences and
humanities come in common.
- Anthropology, of social sciences deals with the study of human relation, and with this
discipline people tend to ask about our environment and existence which is connected
with humanities. Then, they all used scientific method. The discipline of history is
regarded by many as a social science, and certain areas of historical study are almost
indistinguishable from work done in the social sciences. Most historians, however,
consider history as one of the humanities. They are all empirical and data driven. They all
require objectivity.
