We all have attributes we'd like to improve. Since starting college, I've discovered
there are plenty of lifestyle changes I'll need to make throughout this next phase of my life.
This self-care plan will teach me to value and not take for granted the things I know I need
to do for myself, as well as to show love to the most important person in my life, myself.
We talked about how "saying no" should be a part of our plans in class, and I know
that this is a requirement for me. If only I could summon the strength to say no when I truly
needed to. This will be difficult for me, but I am confident that it will allow me to spend
more time doing the things I enjoy. I also feel like I don't have enough time to get things
done, and I'm not sure how to manage my time effectively now that I'm in my first year of
college. Orem’s 1995 self care theory asserts that individuals should care for themselves to
maintain health and wellbeing (Lubkin & Larsen, 2002, p361) Knowing how to manage
your time is crucial since it allows you to save time and energy.
To sum up my self-care strategy, I've discovered that devoting this time to myself
will refresh and reinvigorate elements of my college and personal lives that generate stress.
