Activity 1. Reflective Essay

Direction: Read the questions below carefully and write your answer on the space
provided.

1. During this COVID19 pandemic, what do you think is the importance of

physical activities in your own personal life?

Because of this COVID19 pandemic happening in our world, I really have

reflected a lot about myself. There are things which I realized are more important
than the other. And so many things have changed. This includes how I physically
take care of my body.
To tell the truth, before the pandemic, I really am not fond of doing routine
exercises because I really consider myself as quite fit. I always think that “Walking
from my dorm to school and vice versa is enough to say that I took some exercise.”
That is why even during the first months of the pandemic, I never initiated to do even
some short exercises. All I did is to eat, sleep, play with my niece at times, and then
sleep again. And these led me to gain a lot of weight. I realized that several months
after the pandemic. That is when I understood that physical workout, even just a
small amount day-by-day, is very important than nothing at all. I tried to start doing
some exercises and reducing the food that I eat but it really is quite hard to
consistently do these routines. Even today, I still struggle keeping it consistently, but
I might say that I have improved compared to those first weeks that I am starting.
I also realized that more physical activities make me more active during the
day. It makes me feel livelier and more awake. As I have said, there are still some
days that I forgot to do exercises, or I do not feel doing it. And I noticed that in those
days that I took some exercises, I was able to finish more tasks compared to those
days that I have not done it. That is why I think that doing physical activities is not a
waste of time but rather, it helps maximize your time. Because every time I did some,
I was able to focus more on my tasks, and thus finishing more of it within a short
period of time.
To conclude this, I personally realized that physical activities are indeed truly
important in our lives for these help us balance our weight especially in these times
that we are not doing heavy physical works in our homes. Also, it helps us focus
even more for the day, maximizing our time in our work and helping us finish it
sooner.

2. What are the ways that you are doing in order to cope effectively in this
pandemic situation? Explain your answer.

I know most of us are really trying hard just to adjust in these so called ‘new
normal’. Because of this pandemic, many things have changed, most of it are a lot
worse than before. Our day-to-day lives have largely changed, and so is the world.
And here are some of my ways to cope up with these situations:
a. PLANNER
Last September 2020, I started using a planner even if I assumed that there
are only little things to plan for. Of course, I am just staying inside our home. But
it turned out that having a planner is one of my best ideas that I have. This
planner has helped me plan my day, scheduling some upcoming events and
exams as well as some deadlines that I needed to keep in mind. I know there are
some days that did not go well as what I planned but at least, I am still aware of
the things that I must first prioritize.

b. BREAK
I know most of us are really exhausted and tired of this pandemic. I am, too.
And there are days that I really asked myself if everything that I am doing right
now is still worth it. The path that I chose really is exhaustive, what more is taking
this path during this exhausting pandemic. But every time I feel like it, I always try
to step back, take a break, and analyze everything that is happening. Sometimes
I try lessening my work for the day. Some other times, I allot more of the day
playing Mobile Legends or playing with my niece. I always give myself a break
whenever I need it and whenever possible.

c. PRAYER
Prayer is truly powerful. God is indeed powerful. As I have said, there are
days that I feel so down. And every time I feel like it, one of my ways also is to
pray and ask God for strength. Like that time when it is our final departmental
week, a week full of exhaustion, as I laid down on my bed that midnight, all I ever
said was “Lord God, pagod na ako. Tulungan niyo ‘ko.” And indeed, God never
failed me. I would not have survived our first semester if it is not because of Him.
That is why whenever I feel lost, or weak, the first thing that always comes to my
mind is to talk to Him. Indeed, He is good.
