the paper entitled “English literature practical exam.” right in the calculated time.
The purpose in writing this paper is to fulfill the assignment that given by Mrs.
Desmita as English lecturer teacher.
In arranging this paper, the writer trully get lots challenges and obstructions but with
help of many indiviuals, those obstructions could passed. Writer also realized there are still
many mistakes in process of writing this paper.
Because of that, the writer says thank you to all individuals who helps in the process
of writing this paper. Hopefully Allah replies all helps and bless you all.the writer realized
tha this paper still imperfect in arrangment and the content. Then the writer hope the

ORIENTATION

Inspired by a true story and adapted from a novel that has the same title, “Surat Kecil
Untuk Tuhan” tell series of a true story about how strong a 13-years old girl named Gita
Sesa Wanda Cantika face soft tissue cancer that she suffered . Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan
certainty not merely a story about Keke’s strength in face her physical condition, there are
still some additional plot story shown in this film.
Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan directed by a talented young director named Harris Nizam.
Although he is young and has not long been active in film industry, but his outstanding
talent in directing a movie ready to be displayed maximally in this film.
This movie starred by a senior actor who has played various roles in dozens films and
often awarded as the best actor by many Indonesian film festival, for example is Festival
Film Indonesia 1987. He was awarded as the best actor for his acting on film that has title
“Ibunda” (1986). Alex Komang usually play as a wicked and antagonic character, but in this
film he played as a gentle and affectionate father who always do the best for his children.
So, it is very interesting to watch how Alex Komang’s acting with different characters than
usual in this film.
This movie also starred by a new-comer named Dinda Hauw. This is not Dinda’s
debut on acting , but this movie is the first widescreen movie starring by this girl.
Previously, she was only act in sinetron and some ftv title.
This movie has the same thame with the earlier movies that tells the story about a
cancer patient, but the privileges will be obtained when we watching this movie because it
treats the guarantee of the best acting and performance from the casts.
 INTERPRETATIVE RECOUNT

Gita Sesa Wanda Cantika or Keke (Dinda Hauw) is a beautiful and cheerful girl who
predicted will have bright future. Although she comes from a broken home family. Her
father (Alex Komang) and her mother (Ranty Purnamasari) had long been separated. Keke is
a smart girl who has two older brothers (Egi John Foreysthe and Dwi Andika), and they love
Keke so much. Keke also has many best friends, they always loyal accompany and support
her. Even, Keke just know the meaning of a first love, that boy is one of Keke’s schoolmate,
Andy (Esa Sigit).
But everything changed when Keke begin feel that is a wrong thing with her physical
condition. Slow but sure, Keke’s physical condition start to weaken, cancer cells in her body
increasingly malignant and continuely undermine her body. Family problems, her romance
with Andy, and her friendship with her friends coloring her struggle during she against cruel
cancer cells that lodged in her body.  She won’t to give up, she always try to stay strong
against her disease, she do it to reinforce people around her to not to be sad with her
condition. Even, Keke still be a smart student at her school, she graduated in the condition
with malignant cancer cells in her body. She always tries to survive and smile until the day
of her death came.
Keke did eventually die by cancer cells in her body. But at least, Keke never
discouraged with the disease which she suffered. Especially, even when she died she left a
smile on the faces of people who love her.
What a girl!
 EVALUATION

Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan not only tell about Keke’s strength face her cancer disease,
in this film also added other story plots. However, as was the same case in the main plot of
other films, none of those stories are able to be developed well. SKUT story line looks too
tried to give excessive sentimental effect so it seemed be a monotonous impression than
touches one.
In this film, the additional characters are less well-developed companion in their
images whereas these figures like Keke’s mother, Keke’s older brothers, and Keke’s
bestfriends involved in important conflicts in the story.
SKUT show fairly good acting from the casts. The casts who relatively senior in acting
like Alex Komang, Ranty Purnamasari, Dwi Andika, Egi John Foreysthe, and Esa Sigit wre
able to give appearances that don’t disappoint. Dazzling appearance came from the new-
comer one who cast the main character, Dinda Hauw. Dinda was able to give her totality in
acting, performance, and she could animate the character of a cancer patient very brilliant.
Even, for her totality, she was willing to shave her beautiful hair so that the effects of
chemotherapy look so natural in her appearance. Dinda Hauw looks like have experienced,
eventhough this is the first movie for her.
Make up team managed to present the appearance of a soft tissue cancer patient
excellently. Unfortunately, those success wasn’t matched by the work of the music arranger
team. The music composition of this film was so so and not memorable enough for viewers
of this film, especially me.
 CONCLUSION

Regardless from the advantages and disadvantages of this film, Surat Kecil Untuk
Tuhan remains shall be incorporated into the list of movies that should be watched because
it can provide good life values to known.
You must watch it!
