Ethics Script

Narrator: The following scene depicts a scenario wherein Bolivar asks his mother for permission to hold a small
party in their home.

Scene 2: (Bolivar and Colago lang ang naka open ng cam. Dolota and Claire
close cam)
Bolivar: Mom, Claire and Alexis are going here tomorrow. We’ll just have a small talk and small party, you
know,, catch ups.
Colago: Really? So, why are you lying down there? Why don't you clean our house at least? Why don’t you try to
plan ahead of time what foods and snacks that you will prepare for them tomorrow. *medyo maldita*
HAHAHAHA
Bolivar: Come on, mom, it's too early to start making preparations. I'll just do those things tomorrow morning
because they'll be here at 5 p.m. *boses tamad*
Colago: You haven't changed at all, ha. Okay, let's see what will happen tomorrow. *galit na kalmado* *irap*

Narrator: Morning has arrived, and Bolivar is still sleeping, having slept until 3 a.m. due to some matters. He
awoke at 3 p.m., shocked by the time.

Bolivar: MOM! *pasigaw. After seconds, nakita niya si colago na nakapag luto na ng foods for capati and dolota*
Ohh.. what time did you start cooking this foods? *concern sad and guilty*
Colago: I went to the grocery store early in the morning to buy ingredients to cook for your friends. I started
cooking it after lunch, without your assistance. See? Didn't I tell you yesterday to start preparing, or at the very
least, planning to buy foods to cook? Take a look at yourself and your procrastination. *disappointed* What if
I’m not here? What are you going to serve them? *disappointed part 2* HAHAHA
Bolivar: Sorry mom. *sadddddd ka pls* I promise that it won’t happen again.

Narrator: In this one skit, we were able to highlight the Filipino culture's strength, which is that they are very
hospitable. Although Filipino Hospitality is the most commonly used term to describe how Filipinos welcome
foreigners or tourists who visit the country, it can also be applied to a small neighborhood where people are very
welcoming to their neighbors and friends and will not let them leave without serving them food and other
amenities. The negative aspect of Filipino culture, on the other hand, is the procrastination or manana habit, which
we can't really deny. Procrastination is the act or habit of deferring an activity or its completion until a later time;
and Bolivar demonstrated it when his mother asked him to prepare ahead of time but he chose not to,
disappointing his mother and doing nothing at all. It's truly the case that the Filipino culture has many positive
aspects, but we can't deny that it also has some downsides. Which we believe that we need to change in order to
avoid any problems that may arise as a result of those actions.
