Abstract: Firstly, I would like to explain the cause for the activities
which I have done followed by the steps which I took in order to
solve the issues in my locality

Introduction:
In recent times, Covid-19 has caused an abrupt disruption in the lives of many
people
One thing which I noticed was that most of the maids in my locality were
uneducated regarding social distancing and other methods of safety against
covid 19. Even those who were educated were often reluctant to buy
medicines for common illness, etc.
The purpose of my activity is to show that even students can make a difference
in the lives of daily wage workers and mainly to showcase how one can solve
similar issues in his/her community as well as to help household maids in my
neighbourhood.
Effects of COVID-19 & Background of Low-Income
Workers :
Firstly, Low-Income workers such as household maids often come from
uneducated backgrounds. This, especially in covid-19 , leads to unwanted risks
and issues.
The worst hit by this pandemic were maids and low-level labourers. Due to
their education and low income, they face several issues, not just in my
community, but all around the world from every single continent on the
planet.
The above reasons have led to many of these workers unable to afford basic
amenities like medicine and masks. This also leads them to be ignorant and risk
their lives to covid-19. Thus, I took a few steps to make a difference in my
community

Activities:
(i)Donation of Medicine: Using the available resources, I donated medicines to
household maids around my community. These medicines range from treating
the common cold to even fever-treatment medicines.
While the medicines were given, methods for usage and application were also
explained.
(ii)Donation of Hygiene Supplies: During these times, it is important to make
sure that workers are well protected and safe.
In order to do so, Sanitizer dispensers were setup in public areas in my
community. More importantly, household workers were given masks and
sanitizer to ensure their safety while working
(iii)Spreading of Awareness: Awareness regarding COVID-19 was spread
through social media as well as posters were put up in areas around my
community.
This step allows others to take up initiatives like this and educates the public
about covid-19 safety
Conclusion:
During this time of technology, modern development, and dire situations, it is
our duty as students and citizens of our country to help those who need it.
Especially during this financial downturn of our economy due to covid-19, it is
important to ensure that those who work hard everyday are also working safe
and living safe. No matter the size of the initiative or its scale, every step makes
a difference.
