Due to its various meanings the verb ‘get’ is used in different structures and contexts.
get + something / someone = obtain / receive / buy / fetch / find / bring / understand
Ex.: - Did you already get the parcel?
- Where did you get such a beautiful dress?
- Can you get a job in Chile without a working visa?
- Could you get the paper for me, please?
- I couldn’t get her. She had already left.
- I didn’t get a word of what he said. He was speaking Chinese.
get in / into & get out of (a car) / get on & get off (a bus, a train, a plane)
Ex.: - They got in / into the car and drove away.
- The bus stopped and she got off.
