I. Spelling rules.

II. Pronunciation of -ed.

/ id/ - when the verb ends in / t/ or /d/ sound.

wanted, mended, skated, painted.

/t/ - when the verb ends in a voiceless sound: /p/, /k/, /f/, /s/, ch, sh, x.

stopped, liked, laughed, kissed, watched, washed, fixed.

/d/- when the verb ends in any other sound.

loved, robbed, closed.

III. Time expressions used with the past.

-yesterday, (ieri) the day before yesterday (alaltaieri).

-last night, week, last month, last year.(saptamana trecuta...)


- five minutes/ a week / two months/ five years ago.

IV. Use.

We use the past simple to talk about past, completed actions. (finished)
