SUBJECT: METHOD STATEMENT FOR CHILLED WATER LINE HOT
TAPPING WORK 20th Feb 2010

Project: Alteration & Addition Works

1.0 Carry out site survey to identify the pipe to be Hot Tapping Area.

2.0 Submit clearance form with necessary sketches or photo to Central Manager for approval.

3.0 To obtain work permit, hot work permit and storage area for material.

4.0 To remove any optical object for the Hot Tapping area and diversion area.

5.0 To pre-fabricate the short spool c/w valve at site.

6.0 Delivery of equipments, tools and materials to site.

7.0 Customer is to ensure that the flow rate limitation during hot tapping, maximum 7 ft/s
(for liquid or Steam line).

8.0 Set up equipments, tools and ladder or scaffolding.

9.0 To de-activate the building smoke detectors (By Owner).

10.0 To install short spool (welding is required on-site).

11.0 Start welding the short spool approximately 280 minutes.

12.0 To Visual check the welding area is in good condition.

13.0 After confirming the welding, proceed to the pressure test.

14.0 Pressure test 1.5 time of the operating pressure and hold for 30 minutes.

15.0 To inspect before and after the pressure any drop.

16.0 After pressure test, drain off the water

17.0 To install Hot Tapping Equipment onto the gate valve or ball valve.

18.0 To inspect any alignment run out and faulty part.

19.0 Start Coring depending of the size, until completion. (Estimated 2 hours)

20.0 Dismantle the Hot Tapping Equipment and proceed to the next Hot Tapping Area.
