Martn de Goiti, a Spanish conqueror, founded the province of Pampanga in 1571. The

name Pampanga comes from the Filipino words "Pampang ilog," which means "riverside."

Pampanga was blessed with a plethora of skilled and talented cooks. They were previously

schooled by Spaniards, and the foods and recipes were handed down down the generations.

Because of this, Pampanga is was given a title “Culinary Capital of the Philippines”. The Giant

Lantern Festival, commonly known as "liligang Parul," is one of the province's most well-known

celebrations and this is an annual celebration that takes place in the city of San Fernando every

December. Pampanga is unquestionably a wonderful destination to visit. It offers a lot of

interesting sites to visit and customs to learn about.
