CHAPTER IV

PRESENTATION OF ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

In this chapter, the statistical results of the study are divided into three parts
and each have a corresponding table for every topic/matter at focus. The first part
consist of the respondents demographic profile. The second part is the results of
the factors affecting their choices. The third part consists the socioeconomic profile
of the statistical results is the fields of study they want to pursue.

In the first table, most of the respondents gender is Female which is 51.6% and
the rest of 100% which is 48.6% are the male respondents.

Grade 12 respondents’ age in this study are ranging from 17-20 years old,
this table shows that most of the respondents are 17 years old with 48.4 %
followed by 45.2 %which are the 18 years old students, then 3.2% for 19 years old
students and 20 years old.

From table 4.1 to 4.5. The attributes should be ideal for the career that the
STEM students would focus. It comprises both strongly agree and agree to 87.1% .
After this, comes their personality with 80.6 %. Therefore, the attributes of
students should be ideal for the career that they will focus has the highest rank in
the Personality factor. This means that they have decide to take course basing on
their attributes.

Shown on the table above are the different frequencies and percentage of the
questions in the Interest factor. The interest that the students have in taking up the
Stand ranked first with the highest strongly agree and agree answers comprise to
90.3% which is he/she likes doing things related to the career that he would
specialize within the track. Next in the list is that a life experience arose the
students Interest in taking up their career choice which has 87.1% in strongly agree
and agree portion. Next, the interest that the students have in taking up the strand
with 83.9%. Lastly, is that he/she sees himself/herself competent at the career that
he’ll pursue from the track.

Based on the table 20 students answered No for parental influences in choosing


their career which is 64.5%, while 11 students answered Yes It is parental
Influence in choosing their career that has 35.5%.

In the table above 29 students who answered yes on Personal attributes in their
career choice which has 93.5%, while 2 students answered No for Personal
Attributes that has 6.5%.

The graph above shows the fields of the respondents. Majority of the
students would pursue the Engineers field, comprising 40% of the population. 26.7
% of the population would pursue medical doctors, 13. 3% for architects and
healthcare professionals, and 6.7% population would pursue the scientists field.
While looking at the table above, we could conclude that most of the respondents
are really taking up courses related to the STEM strand they have chosen to
specialize. It would make sense that the students that would pursue Engineering
and Medicine are compatible, relevant and essential to what they took up to know
whether the field they chose will be the right one or wrong.
