What I Need to Know
Demonstrate understanding of
organisms as having feedback Explain the role of hormones
mechanisms, which are involved in the female and S10LT-IIIb-34
coordinated by the nervous and male reproductive systems
endocrine systems
What’s In
In the previous grade, you learned about the different organ systems of the
body. Can you still recall them? Let us check by answering the activity below.
Activity 1: What Am I?
Directions: Read each statement carefully. Select the correct answer from the
word bank and write your answer in the blank space provided. The first one
was done for you.
1
2. I am an organ system that distributes
vital elements such as oxygen and
nutrients. At the same time, I also transport __________________
gaseous wastes away from the body. What
am I?
3. I am made up of organs in the body that
help in gas exchange. I breathe oxygen in
and expel carbon dioxide. What am I? __________________
In Grade 7, you learned the different levels of organization from the cell
to the biosphere. In Grade 8, you learned about the digestive system and the
processes involved during digestion. In Grade 9, you learned the different
structures of the circulatory and respiratory systems working together to
transport oxygen-rich blood and nutrients to the different parts of the body.
Now you will learn about the endocrine glands and the role of hormones
involved in female and male reproductive systems.
2
What’s New
Activity 2: Locate the Gland
Directions: Draw the shape on the human body where the given glands are
appropriately found. Then, write down the hormone released by the gland
and the function of that hormone in the body. The first one was done for
you.

What’s In
The endocrine system is composed of glands
that secrete different types of hormones that affect
almost every cell, organ, and function of our body. It is
essential in regulating growth and development,
metabolism, as well as reproductive processes, and
mood. Endocrine glands secrete chemicals known as
hormones into the bloodstream, which carries them
throughout the body.
Hormones are chemical messengers, carrying
instructions to cells to change their activities. When a
hormone in the blood reaches the target organ, it
produces a notable effect. The effect of hormones can

A gland is an organ in which cells secrete materials to be brought to the
different regions of the body, sometimes via tube-like structures called ducts.
Endocrine glands (endo mean “within,” krinein means “separate,” i.e., to secrete)
are ductless glands that secrete hormones directly into either the bloodstream or
the fluid around the cells or tissues that secrete hormones.

release. While other hormones prepare the uterus so a baby can grow in it,
other hormones still control the stretching of the uterus during pregnancy.
From the hormones listed above, the next activity will focus on the role
of these hormones in the Male and Female Reproductive Systems.

Stimulates male development and behavior
Stimulates ovulation and production of estrogen

After identifying the hormones given their respective functions, we will
now move to the different glands involved in different human activities by
doing the activity that follows.

8. How does the Luteinizing hormone (LH) function in the female reproductive
system?
a. LH stimulates ovulation
b. LH induces uterine lining
c. LH stimulates milk production
d. LH increases water absorption
9. Why is the hormone testosterone important for the male reproductive
system?
a. It influences the seminiferous tubules to produce sperm
b. Its production activates the entire male reproductive system
c. It stimulates the interstitial cells to produce more testosterone
d. It suppresses the production of the interstitial cell-stimulating
hormone
10. Why is the occurrence of secondary sex characteristics important in the
Female Reproductive system?
a. Without it, a female is considered sexually mature

Region IX: Zamboanga Peninsula Hymn – Our Eden Land
Here the trees and flowers bloom Gallant men And Ladies fair Cebuanos, Ilocanos, Subanons, Boholanos, Ilongos,
Here the breezes gently Blow, Linger with love and care All of them are proud and true
Here the birds sing Merrily, Golden beams of sunrise and sunset Region IX our Eden Land

My Final Farewell
Farewell, dear Fatherland, clime of the sun caress'd Let the sun draw the vapors up to the sky,
Pearl of the Orient seas, our Eden lost!, And heavenward in purity bear my tardy protest
Gladly now I go to give thee this faded life's best, Let some kind soul o 'er my untimely fate sigh,
And were it brighter, fresher, or more blest And in the still evening a prayer be lifted on high
Still would I give it thee, nor count the cost. From thee, 0 my country, that in God I may rest.
On the field of battle, 'mid the frenzy of fight, Pray for all those that hapless have died,
Others have given their lives, without doubt or heed; For all who have suffered the unmeasur'd pain;
The place matters not-cypress or laurel or lily white, For our mothers that bitterly their woes have cried,
Scaffold or open plain, combat or martyrdom's plight, For widows and orphans, for captives by torture tried
T is ever the same, to serve our home and country's need. And then for thyself that redemption thou mayst gain
I die just when I see the dawn break, An d when t he d ar k night wr a p s t he gr av eyar d ar o un d
Through the gloom of night, to herald the day; Wit h only t he de a d in t heir v igil t o se e
