CATCH UP EXAM

PRELIM (MAJOR EXAM)

1.
A QUALITATIVE STUDY ON THE LIVE EXPERIENCES OF
HEALTHCARE PERSONNELS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
HOW IT AFFECTS THEIR MENTAL HEALTH AND HOW TO CREATE
AWARENESS AS OPPOSE OTHER PROFESSIONS.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to explore the state of mental health of healthcare

personnel’s during the covid-19 pandemic and also to know the live
experiences of the healthcare personnel’s and to create awareness to
other health personnel’s(future health workers) about the possible
mental health issues experienced during the covid-19 period. With the
Covid-19 being a new virus that needs to be tackled by the medical field,
there are plenty of risks associated with this new virus. Healthcare
personnel’s are being exposed to Covid-19 virus which increases the
chances of them developing mental health problems. In this era in the
medical field, it is highly expected that the healthcare personnel’s will
work for very long hours while they are under overwhelming pressure for
the reason of overflowing patients in the hospitals. They are more likely
experiencing anxiety and depression due to the environment they have
been facing every day.

Hypothesis

More so, this study aims to answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of;
a. age,
b. gender,
c. profession and
d. Length of work experiences?
2. What is the status of Mental Health of healthcare workers during
covid-19 Pandemic?
3. What is the actuality of the life experiences of health care workers
during COVID- 19 pandemic?
4. What framework on mental health can be developed?

pandemic?

The figure above describes the conceptual framework of the study

where the input consists of the profile variable which include; age,
gender, profession and length of the experience of healthcare
personnel’s. The process of evaluating mental health is through the use
of survey questionnaires and conducting mental health awareness
programs will be the output of this study.

Population/ Problem: A qualitative study on the live experiences of

healthcare personnel’s and how covid-19 affects their mental health.
Intervention: How to create awareness.
Comparison: As oppose other professions.
Outcomes: Create awareness.
Time: During the covid-19 pandemic.

Methodology

The study is a qualitative type of research study which uses

phenomenological method to evaluate the life experiences of healthcare
personnel’s caring for patients during pandemic and how this pandemic
has affected their mental health. Here, the researcher believes that
using this kind of research design will perfectly describe the specific
situations, and reach at the actuality of lived experiences of the
healthcare personnel’s during Covid-19 period.

Statistical Treatment

Response to the questionnaires by healthcare workers was statistically

evaluated with the survey tool of the study with 15 representative’s
respondents.
Problem 1;
- To answer problem 1, “what is the profile variables of the
respondents based on their age, gender, profession and length of
work experience”, the percentage distribution and frequency will be
used.
Problem 2;
- To answer number 2, “What is the status of Mental Health of
Healthcare personnel’s during Covid-19 pandemic:” The data
interpretation will be used here.
Problem 3;
- To answer problem 3, “What is the actuality of the live experiences of
healthcare personnel’s during the covid-19 pandemic”, the data
interpretation will be utilized too.
Problem 4;
- To answer problem 4, “After evaluating the results of the study, what
framework mental health program can be developed?” The data
interpretation will be used.
2. DISCUSS THE DIFFERENCE OF PROBABILITY AND NON-PROBABILITY
SAMPLING TECHNIQUES (5 points)

- The probability sampling technique is based on random selection of subjects,

that’s while it’s known as random sampling. Meanwhile, the non-probability
sampling technique is based on a non-random way of selecting subjects, hence
it’s known as a non-random sampling.
- The probability sampling technique is a sampling technique in which the subjects
of the population get an equal opportunity to be selected as a representative
sample. On the other hand, the non-probability sampling technique is a method
of sampling wherein, it is not known that which individual from the population will
be selected as a sample.
- In the probability sampling technique, the chances of selection are fixed and
known, where as in the non-probability sampling technique, the selection
probability is zero, meaning it is neither specified not known.
- The probability sampling technique is used when the research is conclusive in
nature, meanwhile, when the research is exploratory, non-probability sampling
technique should be used.
- The probability sampling technique test hypothesis, whereas, the non-probability
sampling technique generates hypothesis.

3. Stratify the following data: (5 points/each computation)

 Caloocan City = 2,000 residents
 Pasay City = 4,000 residents
 Makati City = 1,500 residents

STRATA ACTUAL NO. OF PERCENTAGE TOTAL NO. PER

POPULATION STRATA
CALOOCAN 2,000 26.7% 534
PASAY 4,000 53.3% 2,132
MAKATI 1,500 20.0% 300
TOTAL 7,500 100%

COMPUTATION

A. ACTUAL NUMBER OF POPULATION= 2,000 + 4,000 + 1,500= 7,500

B. PERCENTAGE;
CALOOCAN= 2,000 X 100= 26.7%
7,500 1

PASAY= 4,000 X 100=53.3%

7,500 1
MAKATI=1,500 X 100= 20%
7,500 1
THEREFORE; 26.7% + 53.3% + 20.0%= 100%

C. TOTAL NUMBER PER STRATA;

CALOOCAN= 26.7 X 2,000= 534
100 1

PASAY= 53.3 X 4,000= 2,132

100 1

MAKATI = 20 X 1,500= 300

100 1
