Types of Curing Procedures & Applications
SL NO DESCRIPTIONS APPLICATIONS

The main purposes of Curing are the absorption of Heat of

Hydartion of Cement in concrete, reduce the shrinkage &
helps to gain the strength in the concrete. This is normal as
1 Water Curing well as common practices to used by water sprinling on over
the concrete surafce sufficeintly to keep the surface in mosit
conditions by applying hessain cloths. This process can be
further divided into four process which are water spraying,
water covering, ponding & imersion.

Where Water curing is not possible, membrane curing is

adpoted for this type of concrete structures. Very less qty of
2 Membrane Curing water reqd. in the concrete surface & after that membrane
are coverd up the surface. The membranes are made by
Polyethene Film or Polyster Film, Bituminous Compounds,
Water Proof Paper or Rubber Compounds.

In this process concrete gains strength in very fast as

compared to others process, also it reqd. less curing time
3 Curing by Heat periods as related to other curing process. But due to several
limitations at site this process can be adopted only for
Prefabricated units.

This process used by curing chamber (closed in manner),

where pressure can be controlled in diff. stages, with
advantage of this the Prefabriacted elements are cured in
this process & accuire much higher compressive strength of
Steam Curing at
4 the concrete, as compared to other curing methods
ordinary pressure
applicables for same grade of concrete. Steam cured
concrete strength achieved in only 3 days, while for same
grade of concrete strength achieved in 28 days following by
ordinary curing process.

Same as per above, but this method contans that of both

high pressure & high temp. due to that it is called as
Atoclaving process or method. Light weighted concrete
products are used for this type of curing process. High
pressure Steam cured concrete strength achieved in only 1
Steam Curing at day, while for same grade of concrete strength achieved in
5
High Pressure 28 days following by ordinary curing process. Also, the
concrete cured by this process can further more stronger
rather than others same grade of concrete, due to its
physical properties are much improvised. In this process the
concrete subjected to max. temp around 175 degree C &
Steam pressure approx. 8.5 Kg/Sq.cm
Specailly used for Hollow prefabricated elements of concrete
& the temp. applied in this process by the helps of infrared
Concrete curing by equipemnts around 90 degree C. Also, it reqd. less time to
6
Infra red Radiation achedve the desired strength as comapred the steam curing
process, but the main disadvantage is that, it is used for only
hollow section of the concrete.

This method is used for very cold weather concreting, where

other curing process cant be applied due to freezed of water
by the very less temp. in the enviroments. By two no of
Elctrode are used in the concrete section for passing the
currents through in its. The potential diff. of the two plates
7 Electrical Curing
will be 30 to 60 volts as per reqd. Care to be taken for loss of
surface moisture in this process & concrete strength
achieved in only 3 days, while for same grade of concrete
strength achieved in 28 days following by ordinary curing
process.

The pressure are going on in this

process to continuity system & the
chamber shuld be big enough as per

Prestressed Concrete Sleeprs.

For bulk qty of production based items

time & as well as reqdy for deliveries.
This method is not so economical as
compeared to others, due to this is
very expansive method.
